If you are looking for a good salted egg dish, this is the place. It's flavourful, at the right spice level and u can actually see bits of salted egg. Short waiting time, about 5 mins for my plate of salted egg pork rice ($7), portions are reasonable. Staff is friendly too. Have not tried other dishes before, so can't really comment much else.

There has never been not been a queue at @newstationsnackbar whenever we walked past. Hence, the sight of an unoccupied table at this popular eatery on level five of Far East Plaza beckoned like a neon-lit sign from the universe to welcome us in. @huatkaliao and Ipp didn’t overthink - just went straight for their signatures of Salted Egg Pork Rice ($7) and Teochew Fried Hor Fun ($6.50). The highly addictive former comprised of very tender, well-fried pieces of meat flooded in a creamy sauce that’s thick with salted egg, a touch of sweetness and chilli heat. Stirfried with expertise, the latter’s springy ribbons of rice noodles heaved with intense “wok hei”. It was super shiok as there were crunchy bits of “chye por” (preserved radish), baby squid, prawns, egg, “chye sim” and sliced fish cake intermingling with the “hor fun”. Highly recommended if you are like me and enjoy this dry style of carbs. We added on the Bittergourd with Black Bean Sauce too. It was also tastily cooked and not too oily. Bonus: The Kopi-O here turned out to be surprisingly good as well. You can bet your bottom dollar we will be returning to try more dishes soon.

Tried the salted egg pork rib and crispy assam fish. It was both good! Pork was soft, salted egg wasn’t too spicy even tho there was chilli padi. Fried fish slices were crispy and sauce was tangy ? just that felt that the portion could be bigger for the price.

the place was very clean. even the table very clean, when i wiped the table using tissue, no dirt left behind. we ordered hor fun, salted egg, and doumiao. basically the doumiao a little bit salty for me, but still very tasty. and for the salted egg, perfectly cook, the sauce is so tasty, the meat is tender.

A lot of people said this is nice - pork cutlet salted egg - and it’s the recommended dish. $7 for this. I think it’s overpriced and not tasty unlike what people recommend. The portion size is ok, I guess the price is “orchard road premium”. The location and ambience is like a dingy stall in an old dated shopping mall. You’ll end up leaving with greasy oil fumes. The service was quick and friendly enough. You pay on the spot when the food is served. At least for me, I had to pay upfront but I do see some tables paying after finishing their meal. No issues with payment method though I think it’s cash only. On the whole i think there’s no reason to purposely come here to dine. Unless you’ve got no other options in the area and want Zichar style food.

Awesome spot in town to have an affordable and tasty meal! The flavours were on the heavy side, but there are other options like soups and stuff that I didn't try might have bland-er options. Overall damage was 43 bucks for 3 pax with 1 main each and 2 sides. What's in the pictures are my main dish Teochew hor fun (with beef), one of my friend's Crispy noodles with seafood, Dou miao and Fu yong egg. Will come back to try other stuff if I'm in town next time!

Salted egg pork ribs is fine but could get jelat. Hotplate tofu was a generous portion but not sure if it’s just the chef that day but it was so salty when i ate it that day. Place isn’t big so would probably have to wait/ queue at peak hours.

Was craving some clams and got recommended this place. Of course, I had to try their highly raved about salted egg yolk pork rib rice. I mean, it was good, but not something I’d go out of the way for. I’ll come back here again to give it another shot, and it’s definitely a good option in town that has mostly big chains for eating choices.
