I was very excited to see Pung Pung Kitchen in Sin Ming.. so brought my in laws to try this evening. I had eaten 2 times at the Holland branch and really liked the food and the service staff .. Frankly am very disappointed with Sin Ming. I ordered exactly the same dishes I had in Holland ie Opeh Bee Hoon, Sambal gravy hor fun, Marmite pork & Ice Vegetable. The quality (in terms of flavoring and cooking) was not as good.. At Holland, when I ate I could feel the chef put his heart into the cooking. Sin Ming is a vast difference, esp the marmite pork and opeh bee Hoon - sorry to say I think they tasted below average. I’m not a fan of marmite pork But the Holland branch one was very well balanced and tasted different from other stalls. Holland’s opeh Beehoon tasted very homely. I asked for more dressing for the ice vegetable as I saw the dressing was quite little on the dish - but the service staff in Sin Ming rejected until my wife asked for a 2nd time and was given only in the small sauce plate. Holland’s service staff give us half bowl (small rice bowl) without any questions asked. we love the sesame dressing. The service staff in Holland is very friendly. Pung Pung Kitchen is somewhat different from the usual zichar stalls. Tats why we like it and support local. Hopefully Sin Ming can be improved. Thank you.

We came with great expectations. Ordered the signature dishes: Ice Veg with fish skin, Marmite Pork, Black Tofu, Steamed chicken with essence of chicken, and White Bee hoon. There was little or no seasoning and food was bland. It was really disappointing. We think with all the wide ranging ratings in the reviews, it is probable the cooks have differing skills. Today's was bad.

Fast service, great wok heat breath and most dishes are tasty. Salted fish with chicken fried rice is my favourite fried rice - loads of wok breath! Their seafood white beehoon is a winner - except for the last visit (out of 5 times) where there wasn't enough seafood taste in the gravy. Marmite pork is great. Charcoal tofu .. nice but not a must-try. I've tried other dishes over the several times I'd patronised there and have never been disappointed. For my family, we unanimously favoured Pung Pung Kitchen over KEK Seafood. Will definitely continue to patronise this place.

New Zi char stall from celebrity chef. They have a few signature dishes but I tried their curry fish head, ice berg veg and white bee Hoon Giving an average 3 stat as the fish head isn’t really to my liking, veg is nothing special just with fish skin and sesame sauce and the white beehoon can be better Btw pricing is also abit on the high side.

This coffeeshop is newly renovated and looks pretty trendy. Chef Pung is not here but used his celebrity status to open this Zi Char. To be honest, the curry fish head is so-so but portions are generous. The other items are your regular coffeeshop standard. Very decently priced!

Another “celebrity” chef you have probably never heard of. KL hokkein mee was not bad. The crispy pork lard had a nice crunch to it. But portion was a bit small. And only 2 small prawns. But I think it may be worth trying the other dishes. Some looks more exciting than the usual tze char stall.

Despite some reviews, decided to give the curry fish head and 菜香豆腐a try. Both were simply delicious! The cost is very reasonable, roughly 37 total, and the fish head is enough for four pax to share. The fish head is just the right amount of spices and spicy, and the fish is very fresh. The veggies in the curry are great as well. The tofu is crisply fried, and the veggie on top tastes unique? In a good way. Highly recommended and will be back.
