5 Spice Roll / Wu Xiang Xia Bing (SGD $13) @ Sin Sin Ngor Hiang Prawn Cracker. . Am a fan of this stall at Sembawang Hills, which has been serving the dish for over 40 years. . Yes, they can be slightly more pricey than elsewhere, but the range of ingredients available is nearly unrivalled, with many unique handmade items, including yam rolls, prawn cakes, and more. Better still, it's served non-greasy. . The visually intriguing squiggle-shaped battered dough fritters are crunchy with sweet grainy savoury flavour, while the fried tofu puffs stuffed with fish cake retain a moist texture and sweet salty savoury flavour. . Like that they serve with juicy cucumber, whose vegetal sweet flavour refreshes the palate. Love the spicy sweet savoury kick of the chili, and the simple but well executed fried bee hoon / vermicelli noodles.

Have patronised this stall since I was a child, I have to say that their standard has been incredibly consistent! It is still run by the same couple all these years and I love their ngoh hiang very much. My favourites are definitely the yam ngoh hiang, normal ngoh hiang, crispy prawn cracker, tau pok with fishcake and the prawn kueh with egg. My mum commented that this is the same taste that she used to have as a kid. The oil here isn't rancid either so you won't be put off by any unpleasant smell when eating. There are many comments here that state that prices are expensive here, but I must let you know that all the prices are transparent and they label it at the stall. Each individual ngoh hiang they provide is a nice size and would range around $1.20 to $1.60. So pay attention to what you are getting and maybe get the economic beehoon too if you need a more satiating meal. Otherwise, all ngoh hiang stalls are just priced pretty much the same in SG, and it isn't meant to be a main meal so your pockets might feel slightly pinched.

04Sep 6pm ultra bad experience. Ultra pricey stall. One of the expensive ones I have eaten for Wu xiang. Although prices state like $1.30 to $1.40 for each item. I was charged $7.50 for: 1 X yam roll 1 X spring roll 1 X fishcake roll 1 X fish fillet 1 X bee hoon Ridiculous pricing to begin with, I didn't even order prawn crackers. Quality of food is mehhhhh. Beehoon has no taste although lukewarm. The fishcake. Fishcake is very stale. Not QQ. suspect overnight leftover. Fish fillet is ok. Yaam roll is not bad. Spring roll is bad coz inside is very much mushy instead of crunchy. I will never ever visit this stall. * BLACKLISTED * eat at own risk. Despite the horrendous experience, there is still a queue. Maybe not alot of stalls open.
