Food taste: 4* Plating up / presentation: 5* Variety: 4* Price: 2* (well, given its location, it is also understandable why it's quite expensive, but it is almost double that of the restaurants on the first floor) Ambience and layout: 4* Serving time: 3*

Surprisingly decent quality of food by non-Japanese cooks. But, way way over priced. 2 ppl at the sushi bar with s few nihonshu.... Thousand dollar bill... would have been fine w $300...

This restaurant was described in the Mandarin Bay Sands Hotel brochure as fine dining and so my wife decided to visit as we travel a lot and love Japanese food. We have eaten some excellent Japanese restaurants whilst travelling including Morimoto's in Napa, along with many around Australia, New Zealand, and other parts of Asia, most would blow this restaurant away in terms of quality, service and price. In fact after leaving Singapore we visited Thailand and ate Japanese (Sushi,Sashimi and other dishes) in the Indigo Pearl Resort and chef Jack (from California and not hint of Japanese in him) produced some of the best Japanese we have every eaten for half the price we paid at Hide Yamamoto in Singapore. In short we were not only disappointed we were grossly under impressed as not only was it not fine dinning given that we were presented with bare wooden tables and basic surrounds but with chop sticks in paper that we had to tear apart!! I could live with that and the over the top pricing if the food was indeed fine dinning and were grossly disappointed again. I will go as far as to say to people to just visit the food court as the Japanese food had there the following day was every bit as good and only 10% of the price. My comments would be too long if I were to put everything I thought into it. May I suggest that you will get better food, better service and pricing at a local Sushi Train.

Almost got turned away by the ratings here but really glad we followed our own intuition - food was amazing. Had their set menu and loved every dish - uni chawamusbi with truffle, wagyu beef, grilled mackerel... The price was definitely worth it for what we had. Recommend.

Good food. Simple and tasty. Nice experience. Service needs to be stepped up. I was left with an empty glass of wine and was waiting to be offered if I wanted to order another one. But I had to asked for it instead.

Way overpriced. Staff not attentive, more worried about getting the bill payment and closing up. No water offered. Took 15 minutes to actually be asked if we want a drink or to order. People next to us came much later received food first. We received our food not together but one disg every twenty minutes which is pathetic for Japanese as it's generally cold dishes and eaten within a few minutes. They also forgot one of the dishes and said out loud in front of us to the people next to us that they accidentally gave them our dish. So spent maybe 1 hour and 30 minutes here. Really bad service. I am from New Zealand and high end Japanese restaurants over here, are so much better. To end this restaurant is over priced, like way over priced! Never again will visit here.

This place had a very promising description on the website which prompted me to visit. Unfortunately the food was not up to par to the value that was charged. First of, the chirashi bowl was disproportionate compared to the value with the cuts of sashimi very underwhelming compared to the ones I have had in Singapore or elsewhere. While the rest of the meals were just not average. The only saving grace for the entire meal was the mushroom and clam soup which was flavorful and wholesome. I have to agree with some of the reviews that the service need to be improved drastically because you claim to be fine dining, customers do not need to prompt for the tea to be refilled. This was not a very impressive meal for my trip to Singapore.
