Wonder why people would queue up and pay more than double the price for the upmarket branch of another lor mee when this is only $4.50 per bowl with lots of options to add ingredients etc.

Flavorful gravy, very generous portions and absolutely LOADED with ingredients. Standouts for me would be the al dente noodles and crispy fish nuggets. Really appreciate that you can help yourself to the condiments according to your personal tastes as well. Will definitely be back for another bowl!

New branch store of Tiong Bahru lor mee manned by 3 young men . Gravy is flavourful and just the right amount of thick ! The pork is juicy and well braised. Its definitely one of the better lor mee here. 1 year later its still as good. They even have a limited time homemade ice cream and chocolate treats!

One of the best Lor Mee I have tried so far. The sauce is thick yet light and full of ingredients in the dish. Garlic is very fresh and the chili actually enhanced the whole dish and the spiciness is not overpowering. Fried fish with light batter and can actually taste the fish flavor. Try to believe. ??

There are two lor mee sellers within a stone's throw nearer the famous tau sar piah end of Balestier Road and guess which is better? It's not hard... I've tried both several times and for my personal taste preference, Tiong Bahru Lor Mee in this Shikou kopitiam is way better in terms of flavour, textural contrast as well as value for money! Did you know that you can ask for more noodles and taugeh without having to pay extra? Isn't it awesome? Hopefully, I'm not sounding a cheapskate but in times of uncertainty like the pandemic situation, every bit of savings help when business owners give extra value to their customers! Starting at $4 (the images of my meal is a $5 portion and I asked for lesser noodle), you will get crispy battered fried fish nuggets, braised pork, fried wanton, hard boiled braised egg, sliced fish cakes, ngoh hiang and tasty gloopy sauce. Help yourself to the condiments. No "scolding" from any disgruntled old man or lady if you happened to want more chilli or garlic or vinegar as this stall is manned by two friendly "hao say kia" (young gents). I was over the moon when I found out the recipe they are cooking is from my favourite Tiong Bahru Hawker Centre stall. Now I don't have to travel far whenever the lor mee bug bites. Don't take my word for it since taste is subjective. Give it a try if you haven't yet. You won't be disappointed.

This place serves very good Lor Mee. Broth is fragrant with tasty ingredients like fried battered fish, slices of pork belly, fried wanton and ngoh hiang. I like that they allow patrons to help themselves to the condiments including coriander leaves, big chilly and chilly padi, garlic and vinegar. My serving costs $4.50. The coffee shop also has very quaint tables and stools.

Happened to be in the area and decided to give it a try. Lor mee was good, fried fish was good. However, there wasn't any synergy when putting them together. Good to have them separately. Food was served decently quick, and I think they have a rather nice basin for post-meal cleaning. Overall, worth a try if you're in the area and not looking for BKT.
