Heard alot about this porridge place that is relatively new at the chinatown complex food centre. this stall was helmed by an ex- hotel chef for more than 3 decades. Price of the porridge starts from SGD$4 onwards. I had the premium porridge with an added egg which set me SGD$5. The porridge comes with different ingredients like mixed pork, intestine, liver, fish, cuttlefish, century egg and abalone. The doneness of the ingredient was spot on and like most of the other review, the porridge is very flavourful and does not require any more seasoning.

Light flavours..not too strong. Pepper is added. Don't really need additional seasoning. Decent portion and ingredients. Reasonable price point.

This Cantonese Congee stall carry some inconsistent operating hours, stated at stall sign opens Wed to Sun, most times I visit, the queue was too long and sometimes sold out around 12pm. For some reason, since last night I kept thinking about this Congee. It's a Monday. I brought my large takeaway pot, showed up, they're open and no queue! Consider my delight! Housed in Chinatown Hawker Centre, they're right next to the famous Tiong Shian porridge or Chang Cheng Zhou ι•ΏεŸŽ famous for decades for their frog leg claypot and porridge, that had evolved into a full coffeeshops of claypot, porridges, zichar and more. Though a consistent smooth Congee of mixed Pork offerings still can be had here anytime of the day. Thus to hold its own and carry a long queue only for breakfast, Weng Kiang Kee must have something special. Once my Congee is nicely settled in my pot, it's a 15 minutes travel back home. Usually not very wise for such dish since meats may overcook on the way home. Thus imagine my surprise. The $4 hearty bowl offers minced pork balls, lean meat slices, chewy pig intestines, and only the pig liver is slightly overcooked and chunky. There's so much ingredients in the hearty bowl that it's impossible to have a spoonful without meat. And the Congee had been boiled with the ingredients to infuse a nice porky umami into the Congee. This is not a strictly smooth Cantonese Congee, neither it is the gooey and grain chunky Hainanese Congee but something in between. You can taste the rice grain texture, and it is in a starchy thick broth. Delightful every spoon and definitely a hearty meal. Due to take home, the youtiao bits thrown in became gooey gluten but in the same hawker centre, there is a Selera stall that you can buy crispy fresh youtiao for 80 cents. Highly recommended Updates 17 Oct 2021. Came to tabao for my wife and I. Congee for a Sunday late breakfast. At only 1100am I was told only 1 portion of Congee left. 7th in queue and so there, my wife will have to make do with Tiong Shan. Ordered the signature Congee and it was filled right up with liver, pork slices, intestines, minced pork balls, cuttlefish and a very nice Congee with great consistency. Perfect breakfast!

One of the best porridge stalls for sure. The porridge is consistently well-cooked, not too watery, not too sticky. Ingredients are fresh. The sliced pork and the boat (with cuttlefish, pork, fish) are the best.

Ordered the no. 7 cuttlefish and peanut porridge and it turn out to be just great. The cuttlefish is cooked just right and therefore very crunchy.

Porridge was good but what will make me return is the friendly people manning the stall. Salute to uncle who wears his mask diligently despite the intense heat inside the kitchen. ??

I’ll wait another 40 min for porridge. One of the best bowls of congee I’ve ever had. This place is the real deal. First, pay for your congee/ whatever you’re buying. Then you’ll get a ticket. Look up at the number counter to see when your order will be ready. Find an open table, and enjoy!

Husband and wife operates the stall tgt. Reached at 1030 and there’s already a queue. Abt 6 pax infront of me. Waited for 20mins. They will issue you a number tag and have a display counter at the front of the stall to tell you which number it’s at. Porridge was very flavourful (艇仔η²₯οΌ‰with many ingredients inside. The cuttlefish was fresh. I enjoyed the side dish of preserved egg and pickled ginger too, though it’s tad too sweet.
