White Restaurant

Came around before closing time at 905pm on a Saturday night and there were still a few tables occupied. I was quickly seated and proceeded to order as the last order was at 915pm. We went with the classic white beehoon (S) and a fried hor fun (S). I had white beehoon at both the original outlet in semabwang and jewel and both were good. However, as I was going through the comments here I had to manage my expectations. We ordered the dishes via QR code and it came quite quickly. The white beehoon was definitely edible, but there was absolutely no flavor in the broth. It tasted like the starch of the beehoon cooked in water, which reminds me of the mee sua I always eat in my younger days when I fell sick. The hor fun, true to the comments, was much better and did carry the dinner.

Found the dishes to be mostly average. But the white bee hoon was good. Didn’t enjoy the taste of the red bean pancake.

I'll be back for sure. This white beehoon is the best I ever eaten. For $12 loaded with seafood is worth a meal.

First visit. We ordered a number of dishes to try. White bee Hoon is decent. Fried chicken’s taste not to my liking. Spicy lala is my favourite. pork with ginger is something I couldnt appreciate. Overall experience is just acceptable.

Went specially during CNY week for the yam ring after hearing good reviews. But we were told on the spot after we arrived that it was not available. What's the point of making a reservation then? Anyway the waiter/manager was apologetic and let us order 2 other dishes for replacement. Otherwise great taste and service for the rest of the CNY set menu, especially the homemade tofu and the yam paste dessert. Portions were huge, not too oily or salty.

Really tasty food and not expensive. Food is served quickly and the service staff are prompt and friendly. The bee hoon is their signature dish, so definitely order that. The sambal Kang Kong is quite mediocre, which can be missed. Everything else we ordered was good. My third time here, and will definitely come back for a simple zi char meal in town.

The standard of white beehoon at this outlet is a far cry from their usual. All I tasted was the prominent floury/doughy taste of the beehoon, the sauce was tasteless and overall a terrible representation of their signature dish. The Hokkien mee was also so so, noodles are decent but sauce was just salty. Thankfully, the fried prawn roll was quite well prepared. The filling was well seasoned and it tasted home cooked, while the exterior was crisp. Together with the thai chilli sauce, this prawn roll tasted really delicious. The seafood element of the beehoon and hokkien mee were also fresh and cooked just nice, still had the tender texture and easy on the palate. I’ll probably not come back again as the mains are low quality despite the prices being wallet friendly.

The Bee Hoon gravy was too thick and starchy for my personally likely. And there is no clams when even normal hawker stall white noodle comes with it at a much cheaper price. The chicken wings and french beans taste has nothing to shout about. Worst was the service that needs improvement. Besides the 3 dishes photoed and reviewed here, same time we also ordered the yam paste with gingko. But it was not served until we checked the bill prior to payment when we realized we have yet to eat the yam paste. The yam paste was not served after we finished the 3 dishes, though a waitress came to ask if we need any last order (the restaurant was near to closing time), but she did not check if all our orders were served. And no deny we also forgot about the yam paste after the long chat that we actually left without eating it. Requested to cancel the yam paste order but was declined by the cashier so we have to pack it back. Please coach your service staff to check all orders are served prior to ask for last order. People don’t come just to spend but also to have a pleasant meal.
