Xiang Rui Congee - 209 Hougang Street 21

Very generous servings at only $3.80. I had the Century Egg & Lean Meat porridge and it was really good, loads of ingredients. Not the tastiest however - dash of pepper is needed. Can't really complain though at such a reasonable price. Queue can be quite long so be prepared!

Don't bother ordering delivery from this stall. Porridge is cold, watery and youtiaos are not even toasted. Delivery of each congee is also $2-3 mark up of its usual price. Delivery of youtiao, just a small piece also need add $1+. Ridiculous.

Good porridge, except that it’s a little watered down. Love the sliced ginger with the congee and the generous serving of You Tiao.

Good value porridge, although a bit stingy on the ingredients when business is brisk (e.g. lunchtime). Uncle has a weird sense of humor but is otherwise very nice and cares about the customer. Comes with a lovely piping hot dough fritter and generous toppings (ginger strips, chopped scallions, fried shallots) what more can you ask for.

Bland and tasteless. very thick style of congee. ust go to Sin heng kee nearby.

The porridge is great and good portion. It's in the Kovan Market beside the economy noodles stall. There is always a queue in the morning. It is $4.20 with adding an egg. Do prepare to queue if you want to try it out.

Best porridge in the region, but quality varies from different chef at helm . Generally above average due to its base porridge is good. Good for any time of the day. Texture of porridge is nearer to congee smooth than to rice porridge rough. Although it's not as smooth as congee. Provide you with free half fried you tiao, and condiments of fried shallots and green spring onion. Most of the time you need to queue though.

Rude and Money Face!!! I brought my String Plastic Bags(2 pcs). Knowing in anticipation that nowadays Hawker will use Plastic Container for Take-away. He seller NOT HAPPY. Showing me Angry Faces and Verbally criticized about me. "Isn't we all(Hawkers) were using String Plastic Bags(for Every Takeaway) shortly prior we switched over to Container, only recently?" I asked. On top of their PROFIT on selling us a nice MEAL...Hawkers nowadays will take advantage to "Rip" customer an extra 30¢ given the excuse of this Plastic Container used for take away. Well money aside. I especially CARE FOR THE WASTEFUL OVER USAGE OF PLASTIC PRODUCTS !!! REALLY...Our generation is creating more damages than ever compared to any in our past(Generations) to our lovely EARTH. He was so unhappy to me. So much so that he purposely don't add those Condiments into my Bags of Porridges (of coz, I managed to Remind. Him and he just had to do it only after I voiced out). He even told me "I will not "tie up" for you...."(just in order to demonstrate his displeasure to me). Unbelievable !!! Porridge is porridge. Their porridge taste just as ordinary as any other Hawkers. However SUCH POOR HUMANITY & RUDE ATTITUDE is an unpleasant experience I will never want to repeat to myself.
