Really like Ya Kun Kaya toast for their steamed kaya butter sets, teh o and the cheese breads! Everything is really standardized from one store to another, dont have surprises at all! :)

Love their crunchy toast, half-boiled egg and coffee/tea. Nice story of how Ya Kun started a humble stall in 1944, worked hard and now it is a successful franchise run by the family.

The shop is quite quiet and feels pretty private. The staff were also quite nice, the soft boiled eggs were part of my order and the cashier asked me if I wanted soya sauce and pepper. I was distracted the first time round and paid no attention to her question but she was patient and asked me a second time. After finishing my meal, I was about to return my tray when another staff came to tell me that he would do it and that I wouldn't have to. Although the staff were really nice, the food was less nice. The yuan yang and the eggs were fine but it's the toast. It's crispy but it could have been even more crispy and the butter was not distributed evenly. The kaya was ermmm... Let's just say I tasted more butter than kaya? Still, it's a good place to sit down, relax and have a drink ?

After trying a few other yakun outlets in the north (the other at compass one), felt that the quality was the best here! The bread toast is perfectly toasted with the right ratio of kaya to butter, and the eggs are always perfectly yolky. The people who work here have perfected their art!

I’ve been consistently been given 1 inch less coffee whenever I order takeaway ice kopi. I’ve observed multiple times that the store makes less coffee then the cup amount and adds all the foam to make up for it. Even after the foam is added, the coffee is not even near the top rim of the cup. This is CHEATING the customer, definitely not standard in other yakun coffee places I frequent. Unfortunately this is the outlet nearest to my home, so I make do when WFH. Coffee is also inconsistent, milk to coffee ratio varies with the mood of the uncle.

Ya Kun Kaya Toasts needs no introduction those who love their traditional coffee with breakfast toast pairings. From its humble beginnings as a modest coffee stall in the 1940s, the name of Ya Kun has become synonymous with unparalleled kaya toast and irresistibly fragrant coffee and tea, enjoyed amidst a cosy atmosphere. The kaya butter toast is Ya Kun’s traditional signature dish and of course a must-have if you are there. The brown bread is toasted perfectly before being sliced into halves, ensuring that it is crispy on the outside while soft on the inside. Kaya is then spread across the sliced bread with slices of cold butter added (this is the perfect combination). As you sink your teeth into these, the combination of the toasted crispiness on the outside, melting slices of cold butter in your taste buds, and the sweetness of kaya is truly heavenly. They do have the steamed bread version of this too. Over the years, Ya Kun has also continuously expanded their outlets locally and overseas, while reinventing new menu items such as the toast cubes/sticks, toastwich (Fish Otah is my favorite), French Toast, etc. I had their signature Set A ($4.80) which comprises a drink (upgraded mine to Ice Milo for a small fee), 4 half slices of Kaya Butter Toasts, and also 2 soft-boiled eggs. Classic indulgence!

I come here for breakfast after dropping my dog in the daycare nearby. Love that they have bigger space, friendly staff too. This morning the man clearing the tables went extra by helping to carry the elderly couple's order to their table. Not only that, he helped to find a more comfortable table for them to sit. They were initially sitting near the entrance where there's people queuing and paying at the cashier. We may always learn from good deeds we see around us. Respect for elderly is very applaudable.

$6.30 for a bigger cup of coffee. As usual, it is nice. I find the coffee not as creamy as before. Staffs are courteous and attentive. Nice ambience too.
