This stall owner has issue. Reasonable price, average taste will not help. I suppose only his regular will return and willing to accept his rude, arrogant and terrible behaviour. I stumble upon this stall and decided to order some western food. First impression was already taken aback, when I want to order, the assistant brush me off without looking at me, and utter ‘wait’. I saw that both the cook (owner) and assistant were busy. I waited patiently. After I placed my order and paid, I asked the cook (owner) how long I need to wait, as I saw there was a few takeaway orders. He replied loudly and held up a sign ‘Please queue here!’. I said, I am already queuing but you did not answer my question. He shouted again, ‘Please queue here! ‘ I told him I just want to know how long my order will be ready. Why are you shouting at me? Is this how you treat customer? His next replied even louder and others were watching us. He said, I am so very capable! How and what can you do? (He implied that his business is very good and he can treat customer in whatever way he want). I immediately cancelled my order and obtained a refund. Before I left, I wished him ‘Prosperity Business’. No reason to put up with such a person and his bad behaviour. I can always have my western food elsewhere with better service and taste. No star at all, however without selecting 1 star, google will not post my review.

$7.50 for a huge portion of pork steaks together with a surprisingly delicious bun means I definitely be returning soon! Pro tip: Just avoid the peak hours as the wait gets pretty long!

Chicken Cutlet. Hainanese Style western food that only operates during meal times on weekdays. Their popular items are their cutlet with its special sauce though I would say I am not a big fan of their mixed vegetables.

Just came back to Singapore and ordered 2 mixed grill, 2 chicken chop and 1 chicken cutlet for the family. Missed my childhood western food since Margaret Drive days.... food is still as good as before! Special gravy sauce and everything was perfect ?! Thank you Bro for keeping the tradition and surely will be back for more!

Haven't been here for a long time and missed the chicken cutlet. Though slightly pricier ($9), the portion is relatively larger than most stalls. Opted for just coleslaw instead of fries. The flavours were still familiar and yes, the cutlet was moist and delicious!

This old school hainanese western establishment is a real institution. Between Maxwell & Margret Drive, at least three generations of Singaporeans have had the pleasure of knowing “Tasty Barbecue” through its 40-odd years. Proprietorship is now in its second generation. The chicken cutlet is an impressive piece of flattened, juicy chicken thigh, breaded and fried to crisp perfection. It looks intimidating, dwarfing the squashed dinner roll and obligatory scoop of baked beans on the same crowded plate. It must be pointed out that the accompanying thick crinkle-cut fries cover a cutlet corner, lest you think them resting on naked plate. You’ll tuck in just as the generous ladle of sweet house gravy starts to soften the crumb; and surprise yourself when you make it to the end sooner than you would believe. It is as large as it is satisfying — that is to say, very.

I was lucky to grab the last serving of pork chop for the day. The customer behind me walked away after a fruitless attempt at ordering the same. It was only nearly half past 6 in the evening. The stall assistant walked down the line to take the orders. She couldn’t explain the unexpected overwhelming demand for pork chop for the day. This is the first time I was patronizing the stall after hearing rave reviews of this old school western fare and witnessing the constant long queue every time I walked past. They are open only for about two hours for lunch and dinner time. Alas the serving portions and taste did not disappoint! Being quite a big eater myself, I find the serving generous. For $8.50, you get a decent serving of pork chop (mine consists of two large pork chops on the bone and 3 smaller whole pieces), crinkle-cut fries, baked beans and a dinner roll coupled with butter! And not forgetting the old school taste of the lightly peppery gravy that dressed the chops. I would have liked the fries to be fried a little longer so that it is crispier on the outside but this little flaw was easily dwarfed by the tasty combo of the rest of the plate. The dinner roll was super soft and paired perfectly with the accompanied butter. The plate was wiped clean in 10 minutes and this is how good it is!
