One of the better hokkien mees around. Not too salty like the usual as there is more bee Hoon compared to yellow noodles. Very spicy chili.

Ordered a plate of $6 to share. The bee hoon used is the thin kind. I have higher expectation for Hokkien mee. To me, it’s average. But many store highly recommended this stall sharing that it’s nicer. There is another stall just 2 stalls away. Nearer to the Whitley prawn noodle with the same name. Do take note

Do take note that there were two shops selling the same fried hokkien noodles with the same name, Yi Ji. I visited the one to the left tended by two men. The right one was by a lady. The hokkien mee was average as I have high expectations of the dish. They used more of the thin version of beehoon. Chilli was not bad as well. But nothing really to shout about.

I ordered the $6 Hokkien mee thinking that it would have more ingredients (because that’s what I experienced at other stalls selling Hokkien mee), but to my disappointment, only the carbs (be Hoon and noodles) was a lot, there wasn’t any pork lards, sotong and pork meat… Taste was ok ok only, after I have tried other better Hokkien mee. Giving 2 stars because of the chilli that has got kicks. Otherwise, nothing special about this Hokkien noodle.

The noodles were more the wet type and tasted pretty good. The chilli was the spicy type, which helped boostthe taste, and they also provided lard pieces. Prices start from $4.

This is my first try and I quite enjoyed the experience. For a start, the wait can be long if you place your order at the wrong time. As it is cooked in batches, you may wait long if you’re at the head or the queue. Once a batch is cooked, the collection is swift and organised. The Hokkien mee is comprised mostly of thin bee hoon which really absorbs the flavours. The chilli that comes with it packs a solid punch, but adds a different sort of flavour that isn’t for everyone. What I didn’t like are the seafood items. The prawns and squid are largely overcooked and tough.

There is a couple of stores that sell Hokkien Prawn noodles. I think i saw 2 stalls with "Extra Spicy" as selling point. Choose this as there is the "U-choice" and a couple of recommendations from magazine. (Probably last time) Order takeaway. The portion is rather large given the price of $4. (Lots of noodles, ingredients is on the lesser side though) Chili is really spicy, would advise not to mix them first. Do a dip test to gauge how much you wanna mix in and set aside the rest. Noodles is a bit on the drier side. Generally if you are a chili lover, this is worth a try. But if you are looking for a more flavourful Hokkien Prawn Noodles, there is probably better options.
