This place is suck, the room is tiny the facilities are poor, the washing machine are dirty to use and all the refrigerators got very bad smell and even some cannot close. The poorest thing is the internet, you will get disconnected for most of the time and super super slow. The manager here also irresponsible I have text them for many times about the internet but never reply me. It’s the most bad choice to stay here.

I have stayed in yoha@Evans throughout my whole college which is for 3 years and my experience was slightly below the average. Lets start off with the few good things; the security staff were very friendly and helpful whenever there was something that needed to be fixed or just casually exchanging a friendly greeting. The office staff in my first 2 years of staying there was a Filipino and Chinese lady who were nice and helpful and timely replied to my emails. Since the electric and water bill were part of the whole rental pay, I could turn on the aircon for as long as I want in the room, but of course not 24/7. Because the hostel is located at Botanic Gardens, it’s 70% surrounded by nature which is peaceful to the state of mind while walking to the nearest mrt or bus stop. Now for the bad part; I lived in a three-sharing room and it was relatively small for three people to live together, but now they had changed the system due to covid that only two people can live in a three-sharing which I guess is better in terms of having one less person in the room. What I dread the most is the kitchen, you can tell that the cleaners or housekeepers are lazy on doing their job. Although it looks like it’s clean, the counter tops and the induction stoves are always greasy. They don’t bother to clean the inside of the microwave either ever since I lived there. The refrigerators are very old to the point where some of them can’t be closed properly, also because of the fact that there are tenants excessively shoving things inside. I don’t know why yoha doesn’t bother placing lights in the clothes hanging area because it’s really dark if you want to pick up your drying clothes during the night. Last but not least, I had mentioned that the office staff during the first 2 years were really helpful, but on my last year of staying they had changed the staff to a Chinese lady and man who were not to the very least helpful at all and rarely replied to emails on important circumstances. I would email them and after a day of not replying, I had to email them once more telling them to read and reply my email, and only then they would reply which tends to get really annoying. Plus I couldn’t even call them on the phone for whatever reason.

I stayed at yo:HA @ Evans for about more than 2 months, and I advise any international students to only stay for a maximum of 1 month to seek a rented accommodation or avoid at all if possible. Here are some reasons on WHY I rated this place so poorly. 1. Dirty and Neglected Facilities: Firstly, yo:HA @ Evans advertised on their site "safe and comfortable living environment for all". Yet, the neglected facilities shows this is not the case. Male public washroom toilets are dirty due to inconsiderate students. Some of the doors in public showers are broken and can't be locked. Students have to shower while keeping an eye on the door. How is this tolerated by the management? Moreover, there is only cold showers for the public washrooms. Secondly, the washing machines and dryers are unmaintained and dirty. Laundry machines are paid by a fixed rate of $2/hour. Washing machines are faulty and frequently have issues with spin-drying. I have frequent occasion where I have to pay an extra $2 to transfer clothes to a different washing just to spin dry a few minutes because the first washing machine was faulty. Additionally, the dryers are slow at drying your clothes even at max heat. It takes 2 hours to fully dry any normal clothing (excluding thick clothes like jeans). Hence, your looking at $6-$8 per laundry or $2-$4 if you dry outside. Thirdly, there is a microwave, electric stove and rice cooker provided in the pantry but their dirty and stained. Fridges are always full and moldy due to inconsiderate students who put expired food in there. On Block A 3rd floor pantry, there are rats and pantry sink and countertops and dirty! The overall conditions of public pantries are unsanitary and not usable. 2. Wi-Fi: The Wi-Fi speed is less than adequate for online lessons. Most schools are still in a mix of online and physical lessons. With a maximum download speed of less than 1mbps, it is almost impossible to do online lessons. You would either have to fork out extra money and purchase their "Guest-Premium Wi-Fi" which is advertised at 10mbps (*I did not try it), or purchase your own mobile hotspot. Additionally, you can only connect a maximum of 2 devices. 3. Rooms and Pricing: My single room without attached bathroom costs me $830/month. With laundry every 3-4 days around $12/week. Hence, an average total spending of almost $850+. I got a twin-share room due to lack of rooms available but I live alone. The room condition was only in acceptable condition. Curtains were moldy, bed had stains, closet was dirty and had spider webs on check-in. Room is quite small and you would need manage your space well. Now to be fair, the office staffs, cleaners and security guards were very friendly and accommodating. There is an Indian food restaurant (Mr. Prata) next door with 10% discounts for hostel residents as of at time of writing, nearby amenities like bus stops, MRT stations and groceries. But the other points I mentioned above have completely overshadowed them. To conclude this review, I do not recommend anyone to stay here for longer than intended. In my personal opinion, I felt like living in a prison dorm giving the conditions of the facilities and felt cheated with the pricing. Given the higher price to pay for shorter rentals, staying at a budget hotel for 1 month while seeking rented accommodation is much better.

Small claims court is under consideration. Everyone considering this room, don't ever choose this one. Literally a fraudulent company. I paid about $1500 for a 30-minute stay (it's a MINUTE, not HOUR or even DAY) I am sorry for using inappropriate words. But in my country, this experience is commonly referred to as "fraud" or "scam". Therefore I use this expression. Mattresses not cleaned, it is filled with dust. Air conditioners that do not match the appropriate remote controls. Common fridges that are full and unusable. They said it gets checked and cleaned every Wednesday. A picture of the fridge on Wednesday is shown below. You lied to me. To make matters worse, they would not give me the keys unless I signed a contract. This means we cannot check these worst-case scenarios in advance. I insisted on cancelling within 30 minutes of entering the room. I insisted on cancellation on the grounds of inadequate equipment. The office's response was to remedy the situation by the next day. I checked the next day and nothing had been resolved. If in doubt, check the CCTV. The office's reply was that since I signed the contract, that was unacceptable. That contract should be unacceptable because the manager has not yet signed it, but they are stubbornly refusing to give it back. What is the difference between this and fraud? Office hours are scarce and emails are surprisingly slow to reply except when it comes to paying money, of course not about refund. The room I decided to stay in as an alternative (not this scam room) had a single contract and gave me plenty of time to see the room beforehand. Thank you. I will be very careful with contracts in the future and have learned the lesson that I may find myself the victim of a scam. I sympathise that you're struggling to raise funds because of COVID-19, but this approach, which is so terrible, is going to strangle you in the future. By the way, I think Grav Malhotra posted a similar review, was it deleted??? That is so scary.

Extremely badly run administration. upon visiting YoHa Evans in person on the 17th of December the staff informed me that there were several vacant Premium Single Rooms for booking. Despite the fact that the website allowed me to make the booking and their staff guaranteed that there were vacant rooms, several days after I made the booking they cancelled without notifying me. After visiting YoHa evans I specifically requested for a Single Premium with attached bathroom, I was even taken to see the room at YoHA evans, the staff informed me that such rooms were available and I was able to make the booking, as the website allowed me to enter the information and make the payment. Just before my planned move date in January they cancelled the booking with no explanation! Extremely unprofessional and very deceitful! Do not trust.

Dust in the room can be a carpet, no housekeeping. A rat has a Patty on the ceiling, a cockroach has a concert on the ground. Mold was everywhere in the room, on the bed, in the drawers, everywhere. There is no gym. I repeat, there is no gym. The staff have a terrible attitude, especially the manager. Wifi speed limit and frequent dropped calls.

The room is not at all like the pictures. Mine was all filthy, had no lights when I first arrived. The equipment are all broken. The building is very old as well. The kitchen is the worst part. It is smelly, dirty as hell and all equipments are broken. There is no gym. Would not recommend at all. IT IS NOT AT ALL LIKE THE PICTURES ON THE WEBSITE. DO NOT GET FOOLED! Plus the landlord are very ride when it comes to rent. You need to pay it on the due date otherwise they will ask you to leave.
