Succulent juicy chicken, served with rice & beansprouts. Ramen egg is so on point! Chilli is Spicy & tangy. Very friendly stall run by mother & son! Must give it a try!

This may be the best Hainanese chicken rice I've ever had. Chicken was tender, juicy and lightly seasoned. It was so great with the fluffy and fragrant rice. Do remember to eat it with the chilli too - it gives the dish a zesty and slightly spicy kick. Elevated the entire experience. Will be back again if I'm around the area!

Run by a young and talented gentleman who gave up his culinary dreams to keep our hawker heritage alive. Covid-19 dashed his hopes of interning at a Michelin-starred New York restaurant and he took the time to learn his trade in making chicken rice. He serves up an awesome plate of chicken rice, accompanied by the most zesty and satisfying of chilli sauce. If youโ€™re in the area, you must surely want to give this a try!

Read about Ah Keat Chicken Rice from an online page. The stall is run by a mother and son team, with the son having trained under another hawker as part of the Hawkers' Development Programme. Since the Hawker Centre was relatively near and wanting to give some support to new hawkers serving traditional hawker food, decided to head down to Bukit Merah Central Hawker Centre to see if it was any good. Ordered Half a Steamed Chicken with Rice as well as a serving of Chicken Porridge. The Steamed Chicken was wonderful. It has smooth skin, juicy flesh and not forgetting that all important jelly-like fat under the skin. The slithers of chicken were truly delicious and paired really well with the rice. For the foreigners who come visit, they may think of returning the chicken as it is served cold but the chicken here is meant to be served cold. The chicken in chicken rice can be served either cold or warm, there is no hard and fast rule that it cannot be cold. Seen too many foreigners with their foreign palates criticising out local cuisines. If the chicken is not cold, no way would any customer be able to enjoy that jelly-fat under the skin. Yummy! The Chicken Porrdige has the same chicken in the porridge but I think the porridge base can be a little more smooth as the grain consistency at the moment is half way between Teochew Style and Cantonese style. Taste wise, it was delicious and I loved the onsen egg that is served in it. It is rare to find such wonderful onsen stle eggs served at Hawker Centres. Ah Keat Chicken Rice is definitely worthy of our support. Yes, there is still some room for improvement but as it stands now, the product is already better than many Chicken Rice hawkers who have been around for many many years. I got nothing against the new young hawkers coming up with fancy food creations at Hawker Centres but there are times when all I want is a simple taste of the Singapore of my life, not some foreign taste imbibed into local cuisines. General Verdict: Juicy and yummy Hainanese style chicken rice that has all the right bits Opening Hours: Monday-Friday 9:30am-3pm, Sunday 9:30am-1pm (Closed on Saturdays) Queue Situation: Generally no queue except during weekday lunchtime of about 5 to 10 mins Price: SG$3.50-SG$4 upwards per serving Payment Mode: Cash, Local Internet Banking by QR code or AMEX (Singapore) Pay Items Ordered: 1) Item: Steamed Chicken - Served Half-Bird Serving - with Chicken Gizzard add-on Description: The meat was tender and juicy with the wonderful jelly-fat under the smooth skin that can only be achieved by serving the chicken cold Verdict: Very Good, Must Order Price: SG$15 (Additional SG$1 for the Chicken Gizzard add-on) 2) Item: Rice - Chicken stock infused rice Description: Tasty and wonderful rice that paired really well with the steamed chicken Verdict: Good, Can Order Price: SG$1 3) Item: Chicken Porridge - Rice porridge served with steamed chicken, shallots, boiled peanuts and Onsen Egg Description: Yummy plain porridge that is enhanced by the chicken and the Onsen Egg. The rice consistency of the porridge is halfway between Teochew-style and Cantonese-style which is confusing so it would be good to see some improvement in this. Verdict: Good, Can Order Price: SG$5

The chicken is very tender and quite nice. The rice taste so so. Chilli was a utter letdown as you can only taste sour and salty with a bit of spicyness. Accompanying the dish is tiny portion of bean sprouts. Overall disappointing plate of chicken rice. Food preparation time was slow, waited 15 mins when there were only 4 people in front of me with 1-2 order each

Probably the newest stall around this hawker centre. Helmed by a young chap and they sells chicken rice. Apart from chicken rice, they also sells other dishes like porridge. Unlike the usual braised egg, the served the onsen ramen egg. Price for a plate of chicken rice starts from SGD$4 onwards. Reached there slightly before they closed. There wasnt any queue, i was able to order upon reaching. Rice was flavourful but texture of the rice was too soft, too much moisture. Had the breast meat, sadly it was quite dry but the skin has a nice texture. Chili was quite dissapointing, can only taste the spiciness with a slight hint of tanginess. Overall, there is still room for improvement. Had high expectation based on some of the good review but felt kinda of let down.

Definitely a surprise. They serve very good and tender chicken. Silky smooth texture. The chicken is soft. Order half of the chicken. It was a really good mix with their soy sauce. And they do make good chili sauce. I was surprised to see such a young owner preparing the chicken. And they do serve Ajitama Egg. Well done.

Attracted by the plump shiny chickens in the window and decided to give this chicken rice stall a try. Ordered drumstick chicken rice for takeaway. Chicken is tender & rice fragrant without being too oily especially I ate after 2 hours. Chilli is also spicy and love the small packaging of chilli and dark sauce. Price is slightly higher than most hawkers starting at $4 and $4.50 for drumstick rice. Quality & inflation makes up for it. Recommend to try.
