Align Studio - Ang Mo Kio Ave 1

A very beautiful studio in an atmospheric shop house offering a variety of classes starting from classical Yoga to more specific workshop-style programmes like backbends and inversions. Instructors are highly knowledgeable and always open to answer questions. All in all a great Yoga experience!

Align Studio's newest offering at Ang Mo Kio is a much needed welcome for those seeking to further their practice in a location nearer to home! For practitioners seeking refinement in their practice, Gajju gives clear and concise instructions on the placement of hands and feet, body alignment as well as points for the eyes to focus. Classes were suitable for all levels, with variations provided for more advanced practitioners (or assists from fellow yogis into advanced options!). I attended the Handstand class as a novice, and Gajju not only taught us how to progressively get there, but also gave us individual pointers to correct our form. The studio uses Lululemon mats, which offered a very good grip and I was able to ease through the class without having to use towels to wipe down the mat during flow classes. There is also incorporation of blocks (cork-based) and resistance bands in the practice. The changing/washroom area within the studio is currently limited to female-only, but there is a washroom for men located on the same level a few units away. All in all, Align Studio offers a warm and welcoming environment to practice in and I will definitely be back!

This place is a gem. Regardless if you are new to yoga or a regular, this is the place to go. Everyone is so nice and willing to help. The pointers that the instructors gave have aided so much in my practice (I learnt to do my handstand and inversion from them! :)). Even if you don’t like yoga, pay them a visit anyway cause the instructor is an eye candy. ?

I have been coming here for several months now. Being unable to travel from Covid-19 means I had to go back to my practice, which I have neglected over the years. My regular visits to this studio and the encouragement from his team of teachers to try new things, like doing drills and stretches on my own time and effort, have pushed my practice further than it has ever been. Thanks to these guys, I am taking my yoga journey more seriously even though I have been practicing for some years now. I am glad I discovered this place. Gajju makes an effort to remember everyone's name and it impressed upon me that he actually cares about the progress of each student. It is rare to find this, since group fitness classes see so many students daily. His classes, while challenging, are inclusive and full of options to modify. The community vibe is strong and supportive, which is so important for beginners in any discipline. His specialist classes like inversions and arm balances are a gentle and safe way to further your practice and have some fun. Rumours of how handsome Gajju is are also true, not that it is of any consequence. The space is tucked away in suburban area, which also means plenty of cheap and good local fare (chee kueh, kway chup, porridge and vegetarian bee hoon are great!) There is also a market and a plant shop in the market, and I have bought a lovely jasmine plant and some flowers from the friendly shop owner. The jasmine plant is still blooming and produces beautiful smells on some nights. Anyway, back to how awesome Align Studio is. The small but homely environment is welcoming to everyone, beginners and more experienced yogis alike. It is also rather affordable compared with the larger studios. I have found my tribe here, and thanks to them, I am learning how strong I can be both mentally and physically. It gives me peace in such uncertain times. Disclaimer: I had a few drinks before writing this heartfelt review.

If the layout of the studio is important to you, you will not be disappointed with them. Both Kreta Ayer and AMK Studios are fantastic (bright light, huge full mirrors, Max class size is less than 15 to Ensure all students have good attention from teacher) Teachers are also fantastic who cater to multi levels, giving options for both beginners and advanced students whilst emphasising safety. Very encouraging and patient Teachers who highlight the importance of alignment (strong foundation). Whether you’re a beginner or advanced learner, you’re in good hands with the awesome Teachers here. :)

Just about as perfect a yoga studio as you can find: great space, amazing teacher (gajju is one of the best) and respectful of their attendees. Highly HIGHLY recommended.

The studio is new, and I loved the large windows and light filled room. I attended the Yin Meridian class, and felt very at peace afterwards.
