Worth the queue as their chicken chop, fish and chips are tasty. Will definitely be backed again to try their other dishes.

I have been eating at Apollo Western Food for the past 33 years. This quiet unassuming western food stall is a hidden gem in Singapore. Fish & Chips may only cost $5 but its fillet is perfectly fried and juicy fresh. I had Morton’s last week. Now I’m having Apollo’s medium rare NZ Chilled Angus Ribeye at $14.50. I close my eyes to savor the meat, I can hardly tell the difference. The same couple has mastering their craft for the past 30 over years. We are lucky to be enjoying their masterpiece at hawker prices.

Delicious western style Chicken Chop, Chicken Cutlet and Beef Steak with crinkle cut French fries, Coleslaw salad and a bread bun with butter at Hawker (street food) price. Apollo Western Food stall is located at Hainanese Village Hub hawker centre level 2 and opens for business in the evening only about 6:00 pm.

1st Review - *** Personally find it just about average. Maybe I will try chicken chop next time. Nothing really special this time in terms of taste or portion. 2nd Review - **** I had chicken chop and added a pork chop, this time, I felt that it was better. The price is affordable and the meat are well seasoned. This time, the meat were nicely charred, a little more oily would have enhanced the taste further!

Love all these old school western food stalls.. and particularly tickled by their offer of freshly toasted bun and single serve butter. Unfortunately the compliments end here. The chicken chop totally lacks effort. Meat was not fresh, was not well marinated, was poorly grilled, and must have believed that the brown sauce would hide it all. Maybe pricing was a major quality limiting factor, I know hawker is not an easy business.

Had my Sat dinner here, old school style western cater to the regulars here. I m fr this neighbourhood but I seldom eat here, once in awhile yes, standard very well maintain. $6/ for a sizzling hot juicy chicken chop, coleslaw, fries, bread with cold butter, skinless cucumber and bake beans. Stall owner have been operating here since it was just 1 lvl, I guess easily over 30years. Happy to eat here again, very satisfied.

Beef Steak (SGD $9.50 / $14.50) @ Apollo Western Food. . Now helmed by the 2nd-generation owners (with help from the 3rd), this distinctly old-school stall has been serving delicious meals for over 35 years. . Their beef steaks are available in 2 cuts - the more affordable sirloin with a firm chew, or the premium NZ angus ribeye which is more tender. Perfectly grilled, I like that their medium-rare doneness is spot on. . Both served with the tasty brown gravy, combining for bold meaty savoury salty flavour. There's an option for black pepper sauce for an additional SGD $0.50 as well, which some prefer. . The old-school warm bun is crisp outside, fluffy inside, and paired with creamy butter, has a pleasant smoky bready buttery sweet flavour. The medium-cut English crinkle chips are nicely starchy salty in taste, with a crisp fluffy texture. . Completed with fresh juicy cucumbers and tomatoes with bright vegetal sweet flavour, and soft baked beans in a tomato sauce with earthy vegetal sweet savoury notes. . . . Chicken Chop (SGD $6.50) @ Apollo Western Food. . The medium thick boneless chicken chop is nicely grilled, with the skin slightly crisp, and the chicken meat springy and tender. . The gravy really lifts this, bold with meaty salty savoury flavour that makes you want to go back for more. . Accompanied by fresh juicy cucumbers with vegetal sweet notes, warm soft baked beans in tomato sauce bright with vegetal earthy sweet sour flavour, and a fluffy soft warm bread with bready sweet toasty notes that goes so well with creamy butter. . The fluffy potato crinkle chips have addictive starchy salty sweet flavour, shiok.

The flavour is definitely a notch higher than most but 3 things spoilt the whole experience 1) The uncle took the bun out of the oven and left it on the preparation area before transferring to my plate. Upon scrutiny, that area was where the dirty cloth, pot coasters were. He did it without batting an eyelid though. See picture. 2) I wonder is the coleslaw served by default. Another who ordered the same as me had a dollop of coleslaw next to the beans. 3) lastly, the portion felt $4.50 instead of &6.60. While I can empathise, look at the picture of my hand next to it. Really small. I prob will not come back in a long time though the cutlet tasted above average.
