★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Totally love this traditional steamed yam cake! You can tell stall owner if you dont want oil on the dish for the health conscious.
Accompanied with sesame seeds, fried shallots, sweet and chilli sauce. Personally the chilli sauce is sweet and not overly spicy. So sweet sauce can be omitted. But if you have sweet tooth the full flavour of the sweet sauce will be the full works for the dish .
Unlike other yam cakes I have tasted that are factory made, I can taste the full flavour of yam and bits from this stall. The texture is course and not the finely grated type that makes it traditionally good. Thumbs up!

Yam cake is the best here! Can tell it's handmade with fresh yams. Way better than all the other factory-made yam cakes.
