They are always fully booked as there are limited seats. A retro decor and homely western food that's just a little pricey. Service was good.

I've often been told I'm a Chinkie eater. Yes! I love western from time to time, but mostly, I like the taste of home, and if it's a familiar taste from yesteryear, even better! This morning, I found such a place. Funny how I walked past this place so many times without paying any attention to this place. I waltzed in, and asked for Hainanese Pork Chop, with a Bratwurst to add. The crust was crispy, and the meat turgid to the bite, but neither hard nor dry! The coup de grace was its sauce. I haven't had anything like this in more than 20 years. Sweet, piquant, with generous amounts of sliced caramelised onions, and the mustard and chilli sauce quickly became redundant! The mashed potatoes were, well, mashed potatoes! None of that powdered mish-mash here. They serve the real kahuna! I'm full, impressed, and happy, and if I were making my way home (which I'm not), I'd buy some back for the family, so that's a trip I'll be planning back here soon. I'll be back?

Definitely one of my best choices. I love their food. I go about twice per month. I’ve tried many dishes which are so delicious. Staff is so helpful and friendly.

Chanced upon the restaurant while looking for a lunch restaurant for gathering. Hainanese pork chop was not bad . Spaghetti was a bit salty. I love the Hainanese brew (with milk served at the side)- fragrant and just nice for lunch. Will probably come again to try other dishes :)

Britishainan @ Purvis Located at 23 Purvis St, there's this interesting fusion between British and Hainan eatery which serves both western and Hainan dishes. Ordered Dijon Pork, Onion Soup and thinking its such a nice cooling weather, I decide to order the Hainan Curry Rice which is ONLY $15.80, so says the menu. First came the Dijon Pork. I judge my food by its cover. The moment it was served, the term 'CMI' immediately came to my mind. And I was right. Pork was not well cooked with blood oozing out on first cut. When this was told to the server, "he thought its beef ah" came out from his mouth. Without a word of apology, he just took the plate back to the kitchen. Pork was tender with chargrilled taste but destroyed by the sauce that was decorated on the pork. First fail. Onion soup. I just see a full bowl of brown liquid. Hainan Curry Rice. Haiyah...who eats Hainan curry rice with such little curry on top?! Pork cutlet and chap chye were too salty while the braised pork was tasteless. The parsley was the only tastiest thing on the plate. Service was lacking. We were welcomed warmly at the entrance but was served by a we-owe-him-jit-ba-ban server. On the whole, I've wasted my calories. Beerdict: Service: ? Price: ? Taste: ? Will go again: What? You must be kidding me!

Cosy restaurant that can get quite busy on the weekends. The mutton curry and mutton soup is well worth a try. Curry is thick and like a cross between an Indian and Chinese curry. The claypot mutton soup reminds me of the old school mutton soup we used to find in some hawker centers that have disappeared.

Amazing experience here. Albeit the price, the food portion was really generous and the service was great. Ordered Prawn Cakes, Hainanese Curry Rice and Rosemary Chicken Thigh. Absolutely love all 3 dishes ordered! Will come back again if in the vicinity!
