Came here for dinner with our family today. Finally tried this so-called hidden gem (Chinese restaurant) of Canberra. Quite disappointed in the portion and quantity of food. Taste and flavour were pretty good but for the price and portion, will most likely choose to visit nearby zi char instead as the service is mediocre. Good to be in air conditioned setting within a mall, that’s all.

Food & service was good. Ambience is good too, clean and big space. However, they have cover charge of $2 regardless you're ordering plain water or Chinese tea.

Food is nice! And service is impeccable. We had the set menu consisting of: - Shark Fins with Crab meat soup (very good) - Teochew steam pomfret (fish is fresh) - roasted chicken flavour ( chicken juicy) - stir fried xo prawn (tasty and big prawns) - cai po Kuey Teow ( soso for me, a lot of coriander leaves) - orh nee ( ok so so) Too hungry forgot to take before photo ??

Got here on a Saturday noon, plenty of tables available but not sure if we were to walk in straight or wait to be seated cos no one was at the entrance so we ended up scanning the safe entry and just walked in ourselves but someone did came after that and led us to a table. Main menu and dimsum menu were all placed on the table but no one explained the ordering process but we guessed we had to fill up the dimsum menu but no pen or pencil was given or on the table. Ended up having to ask from an auntie so we could place the order. Basically just fill up the quantity is the brackets on the dimsum menu and get someone to come over and place the order on the ipad. A male manager (not sure is manager or what but was in black blazer) came over, took the paper, placed the order but didn't hear him say anything AT ALL. Like no interactions but they were actually very friendly to the seniors dining tho and cared less on younger patrons. $2/pax for cover charge which includes (your choice of a Chinese tea - teapot & refillable, wet tissue, water). They will serve a small dish of braised peanuts as an appetiser ($4) so if you don't want it, can just tell them. Items ordered: 1) teochew pig trotter jelly (4pcs): hubs liked it, it was my first time trying, flavour was good but I'm just not used to eating jelly meat lol and it's a cold dish 2) siew mai (3pcs): normal, nothing to rave about, there was a small full sized prawn in it 3) lotus leaf glutinous rice: normal, not as fragrant as I liked but hubs kinda likes it 4) XO Sauce pan fried carrot cake: nicely pan fried carrot cake, crispy on the skin, soft and melty inside but flavour was not robust. Song Garden has really nice XO Sauce carrot cake tho and the one here cannot hold a candle to it 5) charsiew bao: I really liked it cos the fillings inside was more of the leaner meat and the bun was really soft. The size of the bao was on a smaller side. Servers would help fill up your tea whenever they walk by but I just think they could have explained the ordering procedure when they sit us down, especially those wearing the black blazers instead of not moving their mouths at all. Would go back to try their other stuff tho cos the food was not bad tbh.

Food is good but dining experience is dampened by the manager poor service. Ordered steam fish, sweet and sour pork, asparagus, deer meat, caipo kway teow. There is a cover charge of $2/pax.

Great gem at north(-east) heartlands. Tasty food, spacious premises & honest service. Unique (Teochew) items: sweet, succulent & fresh chilled roe crab, wok-hei stir fries. Elegant surroundings with tea room. Minimal floor staff (4-5pax) but constant tea refill, sequence the dishes, provided bag service, plating change & kungfu tea. Outstanding compared to the P/T/Cs brand patronized.

I was delighted when my friend told me that Chin Lee has opened a branch at Canberra Plaza. Premise Direct access to the #02 via Canberra MRT Station. The tables were arranged in a spacious way with safe distancing measures in mind. The restaurant was modern, new, clean and comfortable. Service The staffs were much warmer, friendlier, more attentive and hospitality than the staffs at Bedok who came across as rude and impatient. The staff took the initiative to bring two bag stands for the four of us so that we could place our bags into them. This is commendable. Other than forgetting about my request for toothpicks, the staffs remembered the other things we requested for. Food I enjoyed all the dishes we ordered. Their Teochew Yu Sheng is the best Yu Sheng I have ever tasted. It looked plain and simple at first but do not be deceived by its look. The vegetables were so fresh and chill. Simply refreshing! According to my friend, there was no ginger added which I also prefer. I also like it that the vegetables were not laden with fake food colouring. My friend felt that it was the sauce that pulled the whole dish together. It had a nice plum sauce taste but not too sweet. The top shells were cut in bigger slices and they were satisfying. We topped up money to add the crispy crackers. It had definitely enhanced the overall taste of the Yu Sheng. The crispy crackers did not taste commercially bought. The Yu Sheng tasted like a very delicious salad. I love it! We also ordered the Prawn Ball, Braised Goose, Spinach with Minced Garlic, Deshelled Prawn with Mayonnaise, Roast Chicken and Crackers with Salt and Pepper, Oyster Flour Omelette with Chilli Vinaigrette, Spinach with Minced Garlic, Fried Chye Por Hor Fun and Orh Nee. Every dish was excellently executed. I enjoyed every dish. The Pu Er Tea and Oolong Tea were aromatic and delicious ! Tea Bar Chin Lee Canberra has a unique tea bar which sells several types of tea as well as tea pots and cups. I feel that it is innovative of Chin Lee to start this tea bar concept. It had caused some excitement in me as I am an avid tea drinker. 100g Pu Er Tea Leaves in a black tin costs $55 while the same amount of Tie Guan Yin costs $60. I look forward to buy the Pu Er Tea from them on my next visit. I will bring my tea drinkers next time. Gripe The bill came up to be about $280 including taxes. We paid S$70 including taxes for each of the four of us. I wish that the price is lower or there are some credit card discounts so that I can dine at Chin Lee Canberra more frequently instead of only on special occasions.

Located at corner of level 2 of Canberra Plaza. This restaurant has a very nice ambience. I like the cold dish - 猪脚冻, makes you craving for more ! The cucumber is crunchy too! Signature dish : oyster egg omelette is very well done. Not oily & very crispy. The siew Mai comes in 2 version: original white or healthy charcoal. Highly recommended too. It has a $2 charge per pax for tea.
