we tried some of the mains and have very good impressions of the food and service. we love the fresh salads, grilled chicken and haddock fish (fish & chips). we have even recommended El Carbon to friends and family. but we noticed some huge inconsistencies with the food, portion & servings. we were disappointed twice with the fish and chips dish - once, the haddock fish pieces were much much smaller than normal, and on another occasion, the haddock fish was replaced by another type of fish. it is also disappointing that on both occasions, we bought the food for family/friends who were trying the food for the first time. perhaps staff should have informed us if the haddock fish is out of stock or unavailable for the day. or they could have checked the portions/type of fish used before serving. another suggestion is to rename your fish and chips dish as haddock fish with chips so that it''s clear to all on the type of fish being offered. i'm afraid i won't be recommending El Carbon after these incidents until they have sorted out the inconsistencies. nevertheless, El Carbon's food is still enjoyable, although i think that for some customers like myself, the price is a little expensive for frequent buys, so we can only afford to enjoy the food on special occasions.

We tried their Signature 1/2 Roasted Chicken with Kicap Manis Sauce ($10.50) and Chicken Truffle Alfredo ($8.50). Sauce was unique and went well with the crispy fries and crispy-skin chicken with juice that flows out when we took it apart. Salad dressing was nice with an orangey lemon taste. Pasta was served with well hidden onions, and a little dried chicken chunks and missing that truffle taste. Tasted better when we added corns and the sauce.

First time eating, won't be back. The cutlery is not even properly washed. First disappointment. Then came the food..... Ordered the shrooms and prawns pasta, and Haddock fish and chips. Prawns is OKAY, but the pasta itself is horrible. No taste and not fragrant. The fish tastes very frozen and chewy. What a waste of my time. The added photo is a the amount of the pasta that I can't be bothered to finish.

@elcarbonsg launched their new menu! They are under the SF group limited that have popular brand like Collin and common grill too. @elcarbonsg is Halal certified. Let’s see what I tried: 1.Grilled Chicken Parmesan - S$9.50 Spaghetti Aglio Olio, Corn Cob, Mesclun Salad with Marinara Sauce 2.Teriyaki-Hawaiian Chicken Burger with fries - S$9.90 Charcoal bun, Glazed Chicken Chop, Grilled Pineapple Ring, Thick-cut Fries, Mesclun Salad with Teriyaki Mayonnaise and Creamy Chicken Gravy I like this one, it is flavorful and appetizing with the pineapple in between. The burger is quite big. Value for money. 3. Mixed Grill Platter - S$34.90 Signature Roasted Half Chicken, Grilled Lamb Chop, Grilled Tiger Prawn, Grilled Sambal Seabass, Onion Ring, Corn Cob, Mesclun Salad with Trio of Black Pepper, Kicap Manis Sauces and Creamy Chicken Gravy A classic platter that includes a great varieties ( I didn’t try their lamb chop though as I don’t eat lamb). Satisfying, can be share between 2-3 pax. ? ,. 4. Spicy Seafood Arrabiata - S$8.50 Spaghetti, Chilli Padi, Pitted Black Olive, Clam, Prawn, Squid in Marinara Sauce This is flavorful, sweet and tasty. However it is not spicy enough. 5. Grilled Sambal Seabass - $11.00 With Homemade Sambal on Rice and Mesclun Salad, served on Banana Leaf This is yummy, I like the sambal on the seabass, perfect match with rice. ,. 6. Garlic Prawn Ricebowl - $8.00 With Buttered Corn Kernels, Mesclun Salad and Garlic Butter ,. Review as posted on my IG: yummymich

Had takeaway and was charged 60¢ for each disposable ware including the ones for sides. The one I'm holding is for the sides and they charged 60¢. If you're charging disposable wares to cover cost, I can totally understand. But 60¢ for that size is really too much!

Ordered takeaway of their ribeye steak and truffle fries this evening. Not sure if the steak will travel well so asked for medium rare and true enuf the tightly shut box cooked the steak all the way home. There was no sauces for the steak or fries .. regardless the steak was well flavored n juicy altho 1/3 consisted of tough sinews. Still, for that price and quality it’s a better offer in the neighborhood.

Food standard dropped. I was super excited every time i eat there but now not so much. Price went up, quality down. The most disappointing part is the chicken cutlet. It taste and look different from last time. Now also cannot change the corn cob. All fixed. Service also sub-par. A bit unfriendly. I scared... Updated review - Came back in after 5 months, price went up but so did the food portion and the customer service. Big portion and the chicken was nicely done and the cashier was very friendly. Kudos!

One of the better western food stall in the northern part of Sg. We had to take away as there were no seats. The grilled salmon is thick, juicy and not over cooked. At $13.90 per set, it’s worth it for the quality indeed. Today’s promotion is 1-for-1 Samyang prawn carbonara pasta at $9.50. For authentic pasta lovers, you’ll be disappointed as it’s not quite the real thing. That said, the al-dente pasta, big prawns and almost laksa flavoured cream came together quite well. Staff is friendly in spite of peak busy crowd. Service is quick and efficient.
