Japanese / Chinese style restaurant. Really crowded on Saturday night, so maybe book ahead of time. Waitresses 6/10 service. Food sets are worth it, come with rice, condiments, fruit and your choice of meal. (see half eaten pic for reference) Pretty nice ambience, and feels like Japan. Quite a wholesome homecooked vibes hearty meal and i liked it! felt very complete and different for other restaurants. Come and visit if you're in this area ?

This is a great family Japanese restaurant. The menu has a wide offering from sashimi to cooked food. Also, not forgetting the sake and beer! This is my go-to when I want to have a cosy ambience to satisfy my Japanese foood craving. These are the must-order dishes. The crackers with lobster filling are savoury. One piece is usually not enough. The soft shell crabs are the crispiest I have ever had and are not oil soaked like others. Also, the deep fried shishamo is deep fried with seaweed batter that adds another dimension to the flavour. Last but not least, the sashimi is fresh and portion is sufficient for two to share.

Went here for dinner today. Okay honestly - the garlic prawns were my top dish. And the tempura moriawase was awesome! The yakitori series we ordered was okay okay. We ordered the bara, torikawa, and momo. It took sometime for it to be served too - which i understand its okay. Understaffed and slow service is totally fine with me. But having being sat outside - the service was really slower and it was a challenge to get the attention of the staff. Most of the staff were perfectly fine with regards to service. Food is a 7 out of 10 (portions are above average) Service 6 out of 10 Overall - I came here coz the other restaurants were full or closed.

Quite a bad experience for me. I called to make reservations for 2 pax to celebrate mother day. First they gave me a small table next to fridge and squeeze. Then I asked to move to another table just in front of the serving food from kitchen that’s not so ideal. After ordering my food, they moved me to a bigger table as they realised I ordered quite a lot of food and probably can’t fit into a small table. Right into middle of the dinner, it was so noisy as other patrons on other table is shouting and screaming. I asked to lower their loud voice, i was told it is a family restaurant and they can’t do anything about it. In a way saying to me , you want to be quite do go to better or higher end restaurants to dine. I bear with it and now come to food. - sashimi : terrible toro that I sense the meat about to expire probably no one orders this for longest time due to β€œfamily” restaurant. 5 PCs @$60. See the pictures you can tell! - Aji sashimi : I can’t even taste the freshness or sweetness of the meat! Another disappointment! - grilled fish of the day: not sure why they used some kinds of mentaki sauce , red in color and tasted weird. Fish is not fresh at all… it should have grilled with salt only - California maki and the asari/clam soup probably the best ! - the grilled stingray is rather too big and too hard to chew I don’t think I would be back here for sure! Disappointing!

Family-owned Japanese restaurant ??? Overall experience: a decent Japanese restaurant with a variety of choices at an affordable price. We went to Hakata Japanese Restaurant at NeWest on Mother’s Day so this place is pretty crowded. It’s a great Japanese restaurant with a wide range of food - from sashimi to cooked food. A good place for Japanese food to hang out or for family gathering. Slow service but staff is pretty nice. Sushi set ? Sushi is fresh and tasty. The set also includes miso soup and a slice of watermelon. Sashimi rice bowl ? I was surprised by the portion. Ingredients are fresh and there is a variety of sashimi. Soba tempura set ? Tempura is really well done. Highly recommend it. However, the sauce for soba noodle is too bland. Deep fried oyster ? My first time having oyster. It’s freshly fried so it’s very crunchy and juicy. I actually like it given it’s my first try. Chicken ramen ? Considering the price, the broth is alright. But not a place if you’re looking for a high quality ramen. We also order a beef fried rice but it is served after we finish all the food which is like 40 minutes after we order. We ended up doing takeaway. We heated it at home and it’s pretty average.

Overall the food were good. Regret ordering the uni only, it has a rather stinky taste. The rest of the food were rather tasty and prices are very reasonable. A go-to family restaurant.

Japanese Chinese fusion, so if you're after pure authentic Japanese taste, you might be a little disappointed. Generally, the food are tasty and fresh, no complaints there. Price is very reasonable for the serving and freshness. To the management, you might also want to reconsider removing the magazines as almost all of them have adult content.
