Made a last minute booking at Hathaway due to a booking error at a nearby restaurant. Have seen friends posting their dinners there and had made a mental note to try it one of these days. We ordered a salad, langoustine tartare with galangal infusion, topped with caviar, grilled baby potatoes with crispy garlic slivers, grilled octopus and prawns, Ah Nya Fish Curry, Pan-Fried Black Cod and a bowl of jasmine rice topped with Serondeng. As we were late, a number of dishes were already sold out. The dishes were flavourful and the rice was, surprisingly, flavourful as it was mixed with serondeng (fried shaved coconut). We ended dinner with a dessert of Kueh salat with ice -cream as well as a barley sorbet. This was shared amongst the 4 of us…which was sufficient after downing the mains. Hathaway’s food is good…modern Malay food served in contemporary setting. But, it’s priced a little on the high side. If you are craving for Malay food and is willing to splurge, there are many other choices in the market. Come to Hathaway if you are looking for a quiet and cosy ambience.

Hathaway serves Asian cuisine in a different manner - quality and tasty. If you love wine, the restaurant is alcohol free. Their desserts are fantastic for an non-dessert (non-sweet stuff crazy) person. The dessert - Seri Mukka is a must try on the menu. Love the Black Cod & Razor Clam dish. The Lychee Ginger Ale is good too.

A small place, well laid out and presented serving absolute locally inspired food items. They have steered clear of serving alcohol which is a bold decision but cuts away a good clientele. The menu is interesting. The drinks are locally inspired zero alcohol drinks in addition to the usual coffee/ tea combo. The starters, sides, and main course are all well designed to get the best out of the β€œstraits settlement/ Peranakan cuisine. The Nyonya fish curry and the nasi ulam we had were extremely flavourful and tasty till the last bit. The nan combo was a let down with the nan tasteless and the accompaniments equally insipid. The banana ice cream/ pisang goreng combo was good. Good ambience, great service, catchy presentation and not overly expensive.Great place in Dempsey for a family meal.

Randomly walked in to try the food here. It was surprisingly good. Love the bone marrow, match so well with the bread. And the octopus, I think is my favourite of all. The steak for me is okay, soft and tender, I am a person of burnt end, I like the smokiness and crunch on the outer layer. Due to late serving of the steak and drinks, the staff complimentary us with a dessert. Their service was good and friendly. The good place to chill, ambience is nice and cosy. Another visit bringing my love and friends to visit. They still served good quality food. The duck was good, if it is served with rice that would be perfect. They served super good nasi ulam. Super fragrant. Perfect match with the curry fish. Order their dessert too, it will surprise you.

So I’m here for a few reasons. 1. Kale salad 2. Octopus 3. Colour-changing coffee. This eatery delivered. The iced pea flower yuan yang although gimmicky, it bought me over 5/5. The kale salad could have been a bit more imaginative. I was almost to the point of counting the pomegranate bits among the huge heap of kale leaves. Yes, the portion was generous, but it feels like grazing on grass after the 3rd bite. The grilled octopus and prawns were amazingly delicious. It was succulent and the contrasting flavour between the savoury and spicy prawns, and the sweet slightly charred octopus was worth another visit. Had a bit of space left for dessert and I ordered the Seri Muka. It was flavourful and warm, extremely comforting. The only problem I have with this place is that the vibes are just too uptight. I mean, the service crew inquired if everything was okay halfway through my meal… but she also asked me if I’d like to have the salad served first or together with the main dish. Strange. So the total came up to $100 for a salad, a main, a dessert and a coffee.

Delicious, well plated food that tells a story. Being of mixed descent, the dishes really speak to my family and I on a deep level, but keep us going back for more with it’s modern twist (eg. inculcating kale into four angle bean salads). Polite, brisk and efficient service. When making a reservation, they informed us early about potential inconveniences like noise from some construction works that day. Price is on the higher side, but is well worth it. Would recommend the Octopus/Prawn dish as a baseline, nicely cooked fresh seafood with well balanced flavours. Was surprised by the freshness of the kale salad, and sheer quantity of the Butter Chicken & Lamb Scotch Egg dish (Yes! This is a single dish). Nasi ulam used to come out piping hot and packed with more herbs, but is still better than you’d get at many other places now. Happy to recommend this place to everyone. Oh and it’s a beautiful place too! Make a reservation beforehand

Made a trip down for dinner, just in time for last orders. The decor is quite minimal and service could be better. Staff seemed to be too focused on cleaning up duties. What I liked: - Baby Potatoes were delightfully crisp and well seasoned - Coconut rice was well cooked and loved the toasted coconut bits - Fish curry What I didn't like: - Naan with triple dip taste. The texture of the red and green was too similar and I felt the dish was a bit out of place. - Octopus leg was a bit tough and overcooked - Kueh layer on the dessert was a bit too firm Overall, the experience was okay but will not be returning.

We ordered brunch menu today. Food was delicious and have nice presentation. Personally feel that they were a bit pricey with those basic ingredients. Brunch with a cup of coffee, we paid $44 per person. The restaurant is located at the side of block 13. There is no signage in the front of the block. Need to follow GPS to find it out ?.
