It’s my first few times having breakfast in this market. I walked around looking for something to eat. Not many stalls were opened. I walked past Ming Fa Fishball Noodles and decided to look around to see if anything else would be interesting, I will gladly settle for Ming Fa if I did not managed to find anything else. Just the row facing the main road, I saw this stall. The only thing that got me a little curious was the “Establish in 1960”, being in town, being in business for so long, I decided that it can never taste horrible. Standing in front of the stall, observing the preparation, I did not feel that I would be impressed. I ordered the smallest bowl just to try it out. For breakfast, they have a $3 option but at lunch time, the minimum order size is $4. First, I tasted the soup, it was pretty good, different from the normal stalls, definitely something special. I carefully mixed the noodles, sauce and ingredients. The noodle texture is good, not like other famous stalls that tend to cook the noodles more throughly to soak up the sauce. The ingredient were nothing to shout about. The serving size was fair. The chilli is really the highlight, it looks like some chilli sauce rather than paste, had a sourish taste but never overpowering, very special. When combined with the noodles, it’s very appetizing. Overall, it’s a Mee Pok that I would eat again if I am nearby. It is recommended, just that it’s not the best among those I have eaten. It’s definitely above average, so support them. Noodles are cooked to near perfection. (I tried meepok that morning) Extremely Q. Noodles’ portion was quite decent for $3. More importantly, the mix of chili, lard and vinegar is magical, in good balance. Please support our CBD hawkers!!!!

This bowl of noodles is shiok and worthy to be compared with an Italian bowl of tagliatelle with its superb home base chilli which will not burn your tongue and balance of flavors. If only there were mor prawns and other substantial ingredients.

Jul 2019. This stall was crazy in the use of chilli. It coloured my bowl of $5 mee pok red. Lucky that a passing shower cooled the afternoon heat down, my perspiration was halved. On the palate, it was just so-so. I was not impressed with the huge amount of carbo given vs the sides. Only half a prawn, 1 meat ball, 1 fish ball, bits of minced and sliced meat and fish cake.

Mee pok is soft enough and complement well with the chili and fried garlic. Soup is nice. The cheaper portion no longer has the prawn and quality start to drop

Decent but seems popular, had the 2nd last bowl around 1:15PM. Normal hawker price while portion is good. However nothing really special in their teochew minced meat noodle. Soup is quite nice. And ingredients are quite yummy too but I felt that their meepok isn't excellent.

Found this stall at the second floor of market street hawker centre. It was quiet at 10am in the morning and we had our food quite fast. The noodles are $4/5/6 and we tried the $5 mee pok. Was recommended to add more fried garlic and fried pork lard. Chilli is bright red and reminded me of another fish ball noddle stall at Holland Drive R** J* taste. Overall good and worth a return bite.

Previously they were known as Say Seng's Authentic Teochew Mee Pok back at the Market street interim hawker centre. They have since renamed to Heng's. Always wanted to try their fishball noodle back then but didn't had a chance. I still remember back then, they have different pricing for different timing. Reached the stall around 11.45am and there was already a queue. waited for close to 20mins before it was my turn to order. Noodle price starts from SGD$4 onwards. Noodle was nicely cooked, texture of the noodle was springy. The sauce was well balanced for me, and goes well with the noodle. The bowl of noodle came with the sliced fishcake, fishball and sliced pork. I believed the medium portion comes with prawns. Overall, quite a decent bowl of mee pok for me. They are located right beside the wanton noodle stall on the 2nd level.
