my go-to stall whenever i feel like tze char. simple home-style cooking that is oh so tasty. particularly love the vegetable dishes and egg and tofu dish. and the hor fun packs a solid wok hei punch. and did i mention that the servings are generous and the price very economical. the stall has many regulars from their margaret drive days. beside it is a larger tze char stall but do give hock sin kee a try. i guarantee you will not regret.

Visit date: Jan 7, 2022 | Damage: $30 | Tasted : 2x sliced fishbee hoon (gravy), hor fun, Hainanese pork chop, bitter gourd with eggs (wet style) It is hard to find tze char store that brings you, in every bite, back to the days of simple and homely taste. Most dishes out (pun intended) the same MSG coated, similar looking food. Ah-ma here sticks to what she knows and do best. Bee hoon was simmered to perfection and tasted like how mom makes it, hor fun reminds me of lunch with grandma. Bittergourd and pork chop scream home sweet home. Simplicity from a pair of honest, experienced ah-ma hands. Did i mention the portion was ridiculously generous too?

Iโ€™m sure the rest of the food is good but somehow the hainanese pork chop is not as fantastic as it was made out to be. Way too sour, pork is pretty tough. This is my 2nd time trying it. Both times were done by different chefs. Itโ€™s easy to find best char guo tiao, best chicken rice, best briyani. But to find best hainanese pork chop seems to be an uphill task.

Super generous serving. I bought a takeaway fried rice and that packet could feed two. The rice are skillfully fried till the grains are nicely separated and the wok hei is good. Good amount of shrimps in the rice as well. All in $4, super satisfied.

I visited this place N years ago, and recall the food is good. I am surprised the stall is still around. I have ordered 3 dishes: 1) hor fun 2) pork chop 3) fish soup with vegetables. Item 1 & 2 is a hit but item 3 is a miss. I love the wok hei of hor fun and the taste of old school pork chop rice. Unfortunately fish soup is consider a miss cos the fish is not fresh. Perhaps to replace with egg or chicken should be better. Pricing is reasonable to me.

This stall which was originally from Margaret Drive hawker centre has been around for ages. It was already at Margaret Drive when I was in primary school and Iโ€™m now 53yo. Had the hor fun. Itโ€™s dark Hokkien style with adequate wok hei at $4. Ingredients are also generous. Think it will not be around for too long as the stall holders are quite old now. Try their dishes before they retire. What was missing was the ๅคงๅคด clam that they used to add to the hor fun and noodles. But overall still tastes good for the price.
