โ โ โ โ โ Love chestnuts and love mushrooms so the filling of these dumplings was perfect for me. At $4 a piece I just found them a little expensive.

โ โ โ โ โ Not bad. When I arrived at 130 pm, they only had the $5 chang, which has mushrooms, salted egg and pork. It was quite fragrant, but I thought it could have used more braised pork.
They are open on Mondays to Saturdays, but usually run out of bak chang by 2 pm. Better to call them check before heading there.

โ โ โ โ โ I remember eating their dumplings with salted eggs and chestnuts many years ago. It was the best. And why it has a Michelin star.
I just went after they had a 2 weeks unannounced break after Dragonboat festival. The stall doesn't believe in even putting a sign to tell usual customers their break that even foodstalls nearby don't know. I made 3 visits before successfully buying the dumplings. And they do close suddenly when they sold out the dumplings. It's safer to go there at 12noon. I don't know what happened to the salted eggs (a small orange speck) and the pork was terrible. The glutinous rice was rubbery!! So their standards are not consistent.
Perhaps I'll visit them in August again but then again I actually ate far better dumplings at Clementi mall during this period . For all the trouble I'll hunt for better gems elsewhere. Dumplings are a favourite food of Chinese from Guangdong, Shanghai and other southern regions. I'm a Hakka where eating dumplings is a must throughout the year!

โ โ โ โ โ There's a reason why this is a michelin rated rice dumpling stall -- they take their rice dumplings seriously. I tried the chestnut with salted egg flavor, which was quite a unique flavor that I can't recall seeing elsewhere. The rice was very fragrant without being too oily. The salted egg was bright orange and very flavorful without being too salty or overpowering. The chestnuts were nicely sweetened so they tasted almost like red dates and complimented the saltiness of the egg quite well. Rice dumplings aren't exactly cheap at S$2.80-S$3.60 for one, but it's definitely worth it because the quality and flavor are on a different playing field. They were also nice enough to offer to cut up the dumpling for you if you're eating there. I saw one lady come here and buy back 10 at once!

โ โ โ โ โ Use to be very very good. But standard drops after their children take over. The last time I bought from this store, the rice wasnโt properly cook. Thatโs why I rated 3 stars. They even removed my comment on FB. So i also decrease their rating from 3 to 2 stars too.

โ โ โ โ โ Bought a few from their Bukit Merah shop. The standard has dropped so much. Paid, then the old Aunty says "no chilli sauce". Alamak, THUMBS DOWN. Avoid!!!!

โ โ โ โ โ Interesting little stall selling traditional rice dumplings (zhongzi/bak chang), it must be getting harder to find stalls like this in Singapore. At $5 a pop for the "deluxe all in" version it is not exactly cheap. However, it packed with a lot of stuffing and it tasted quite nice.

โ โ โ โ โ Enjoyed the Deluxe All-In dumpling (chestnut and pork with salted egg yolk and mushroom) ($5.50).
