Ordered 4 bowls of pork porridge for my family, and received a rude shock. The aunty scooped the porridge from a "cauldron" within seconds and served to us. There is zero trace of meat for all the 4 porridge at 1st appearance with little garnish and not even fried youtiao was given. Texture of porridge is ok but the taste is like MSG with a very faint hint of sesame oil. Each bowl only have 3-4 thin slices of pork and even my 8 year old son feels hungry after eating. First time visiting tiong bahru market and terrible disappointment. Avoid this stall at all cost.

Two of my kids bought porridge and I asked one of my youngest, pri sch kid, to buy an extra plain porridge as I was queuing at another stall. Realised that the owner charged him $3.50 for a bowl of plain porridge. We bought plain porridge from the female owner before and was charged about $2. When I went back to clarify, male owner said that its his stall and he can charge whatever amount he likes. He also didn't tell my son that he will be charged the same as the one with ingredients. Economy is bad but they shouldn't earn it this way.

smooth & creamy seasoned congee which suits my taste. no need to add any soy sauce at all. portion may have dwindled but still considered top 3 in my list. cant really get this style anywhere else. highly recommended but take note do not buy take-away as the portion is very small than having at the market.

Tasty & smooth porridge! super affordable too from $3.50. Meat balls super tender!

Had the fried intestine porridge. The intestines were rancid with the smell of stale oil n was soft and not crispy at all. Worst porridge I've had in years. Never go back to this stall again. And the porridge cost $8.

There was a queue infront of me, but it moved fairly quickly. I reckon if you dine in the experience is more authentic and the porridge piping hot. Century egg and chicken porridge texture is smooth with lots of ingredients. The set I ordered for $5 came with chee chiong fun too. Quite a good deal?

This used to be our favorite porridge. Fried intestine portion was pathetic and dried oiled smell. There is no other ingredients in the porridge and this cost $8.

This used to be one of my all-time favourite porridge stall mainly because of nostalgia and great taste. However, I have been here no less than 3 times the past 2 months between 3-5pm to try to have a quick meal and they are always closed. Their operating hours are listed on Google Maps from 7am-11pm, but obviously this is not at all accurate. Such a waste of ppl's time to list operating hours which are not adhered to at all! I have not seen the original owners (or even their children who supposedly took over) for years. Seems like the original owners bo chup already and left their family legacy biz to employees who are just there to earn their wages the easiest way possible. This is really disappointing! Photo attached with stall head on was taken by me on 28th of Jan 2022 at 5pm, and 2nd photo taken at an angle was at 6.05pm. Was still hanging around as I really wanted to have the porridge at Hwa Yuen. An hour later and after trying the stand alone charcoal porridge restaurant opposite (with their own premises with air con seating), it still did not satisfy the craving... Hence I doubled back hoping Hwa Yuen would be open. Even at 6pm, the shutters were still partially open just like at 5pm with no sign of life in there. Wonder how many hours their workers actually open for business at all. ? To the actual business owner(s), please wake up to what's happening to your brand and your stall! It's heartbreaking to see all the hardwork of our father etc being literally flushed down the toilet. ?
