Idaten Udon (Serangoon NEX)

Food is always good and queue moves fast. Easy to order and spacious seating! Love their nikun udon, really value for money and their egg is always so perfect!! Really cant complain abt anything. Esp today, would like to thank one of the employee staff who helped clear the mess we accidentally created by dropping the tempura flakes and still helping us grab another bowl without us even asking. Thank you for being so helpful and sorry i didnt managed to get your name. Incident happend on 8 feb (tues) about 8pm evening, thanks again!

Udon has Great texture, great with the sauce. Wakame was great as well. Wasn't too fond of the egg yolk mixed with the sauce and udon as it changed the dish completely. Wife and son loved it though. Taste: 4/5 Value: 3/5 Ambience: 3/5

A very good udon, a place I can go to even if I am on my own. The udon may look simple but so delicious. Ordered a tempura as a side... Yum

Ordered the Kitsune Udon (udon with fried, seasoned tofu) with beef, Oden, (comes with chikuwa, 2 other fishball items, konjac, and radish) and for tempura, I chose enoki mushroom, a fried fishball skewer and cream croquette. Kitsune Udon, Oden and Tempura sauce are all different so thats a good thing, means that there are 3 seperate soup bases, some restaurants dont even do that. For the kitsune udon, everything ia great. The soup is just right and it have a very "pure" flavor overall whixh is very typical in Japan outside of ramen. So 5/5. The oden's broth is slightly sweeter and comforting too. The ingredients in it is pretty common but oden is usually eaten as the soup. Very flavorful. 5/5 Tempura is cold when I ordered but that's just normal since its in an aircon area so its not really their fault. Taste wise is not bad, the sauce is hot and very heavily flavored since the tempura itself is plain. Pricing wise is decent. Overall, would give it 4/5. Tried the sukiyaki beef bowl before and thats pretty good too.

Personally love the concept of udon & fried side dish. Broth was light & tasty. Fried kakiage, & enoki were good. You can add crumbs as much you like. The place was spacious enough, recommended!

The restaurant concept is very much like a Fast Food Restaurant for Udon and other Japanese food. Queue (about 5min on a Saturday Afternoon), order at counter, collect food at counter, find a seat, eat food, return tray and leave. Food was good and at about $9 per bowl, it is not expensive. The Udon is better than most restaurants we have tried and Sakura Ebi Kakiage is highly recommended.

Definitely one of the more authentic offerings by the group, Idaten boasts a solid dashi broth and very chewy, nicely textured Japanese udon. It’s surely different from the udon made by usual Singapore suppliers. There’s a nice variety of tempura and agemono (fried foods) to pick from to go with your udon. We had chicken katsu curry udon and the standard niku udon. Oden was good too!

Quite a casual joint and a nice addition to the group's offering. Great tasting food, beef udon soup is light and tasty. Curry rice is considered Okay, however they did not have any pork katsu when I went, so it was a pity that we didn't get to try that with the curry. Took on an ebi kakiage not bad for its price and self service sauce and conditions.
