this review is about dr simon ng pau ling. gave birth at mount alvernia, i didnt have a preferred pd hence this dr was assigned (?) to my baby. upon discharge from hosp, baby had yellow discharge from left eye (i suspect the eyemask used during blue light therapy was not clean) and his jaundice was 124. went back to dr ng 1 week later, he legit undressed my baby, used his hand to compare to baby’s face and body, and said jaundice is cleared and no follow up required. i reminded him about baby’s eye discharge and his nurse had to call somewhere else for the test results. the thing is, we paid for the test but dr and the clinic didnt prepare the results until i asked. unprofessional! results came back, dr ng prescribed eyedrops. paid the bill and left. 1 week later i brought baby to see another pd about his weight, that pd sent us to polyclinic to test baby’s jaundice, the level went up to 146 and the polyclinic dr ordered the liver function test just in case. so ridiculous, if i could give zero stars i would. watch me leave negative reviews everywhere i can.

Dr Simon is a very effective doctor. I have been bringing my two children to him since their birth whenever they are sick, even though it is a fair distance for us. His consultations are thorough and his comments are to the point. We are very grateful we have found this wonderful doctor. Thank you very much!

Would trust this doctor due to his experience and meticulous examination alone. I think most people who give low ratings have no issue with Dr. Ng as a doctor, but bear in mind his prices aren't sky high like newer Padaetricians. Reliable doctors often get called elsewhere for emergencies, only less selfish people understand :P

Made an appointment and we were on time. When we reached the clinic, Dr Simon was there and then left shortly because he needs to visit the ward. Nurse should know his time schedule well so that no appointment is made during this period. Nurse refused to commit if the dr is going to the ward and expects patient to wait. Unless it is urgent, if not this type of prioritization is not fair for patient who made an appointment.

Dr Simon Ng is a very patient and kind PD who is detailed in his analysis and who takes the time to get to the heart of the issue. My son has been seeing him for 6 years and throughout this time, my son was hospitalised twice (once for jaundice and once for VUR). His prices are very reasonable for a specialist and he even gives out reading literature for parents with babies. Was glad to have met Dr Simon Ng after the birth of my baby because he's always done a great job. He's always been top of mind for my son's medical issues (and he's had plenty).

This is a much belated review for my then newborn who had a fall. I was truly panicked. Dr Simon Ng was really patient and even came over later to have a quick look at the child whilst we were in the clinic waiting room feeding a bottle despite the clinic being closed by then. My mum found the visit a positive experience.

Dr Paul Ng was my daughter's PD when she was admitted. Did not like his sloppy attitude and how he handled my child's case. I had to be the one nudging him and probing him to do more tests. He was not willing to listen to what was happening to my child and just want to quickly conclude and diagnose. My child did not get better but he asked for her to be discharged. He was also not caring towards my child. Very disappointed and would never recommend this doctor.

I have to agree with others that Dr Simon Ng is very good, detailed and is patient to answer our questions. He is obviously a very experienced doctor and even able to give my 4yo an IV drip without him making a single complain. He has the heart for the parents and we really appreciate that. However, the ladies at the reception needs a lot more empathy to be in this service line. The parents with sick child usually are anxious and worried. We received a missed call from the clinic today (was suppose to receive my son's medical report today). Clinic was supposed to only close at 12.30pm. We received the missed call at 11.38am and I called back at 11.50am, the phone was forever engaged. We gave 16 tries to the number till 12.15pm. It is obviously someone left the phone hung up to show that the phone was engaged. We understand that Dr Simon would have left for other duties or emergencies, but we would really appreciate if someone would pick up our call and just inform us that Dr will get back to us in the afternoon and not leave us hanging there. We had to call up Mt Alvernia Hospital and they got to send someone over then we receive a call back from the impatient receptionist/clinic assistant. Then, the person on the phone simply brushed us off saying there's some problem with the report. Only doctor can release the result to us. This causes unnecessary stress to the already-worried parents. Dr Simon very nicely gave us a call the moment he was back and assured us that there wasn't any problem with the report and everything is fine. This incident reckon the management to look into the quality of the front desk staff/clinic assistant/receptionist. Empathy is much needed in this field, especially in Pediatric clinic.
