Cycled into Zion Riverside Food Centre, discovered amazing carrot cake (black). The carrot cake was sweet, tasty with a nice crispy edge to it. Highly recommended!

Be careful when paying with the Paynow QR. I made a payment to them and showed them my screen, but they denied and claimed the NetsBiz terminal did not show the payment in their account. I verified with my bank that the amount was indeed deducted but the stall owners insisted they did not receive. Had a hard time trying to communicate with them as they are deaf couple hence i had to forgo the amount deducted.

Waited one hour for one plate of carrot cake. Owner do not monitor the queue. Own time own target. She happy she give fast. Unfamiliar face please wait until you lose patience and ask her again.

Personally I like the white one better. If you order the mixed one, ordering with chili is my personal recommendation to enjoy a good balance of savory and sweet taste. The potion is good considering the price. The boss was kind.

Unit #26 Lau Goh Teochew Chye Thow Kuay ่€ๅณ่œ้ ญ็ฒฟ This stall serves up one of the best Fried Carrot Cake around and is often overlooked due to the popularity of the nearby Fried Kway Teow stall. Uncle Peter, the Hawker, prepares his own raddish cake of which he then cuts and pan fries them only upon order by customers. One can observe him as he cooks, ensuring that each side of the Fried Carrot Cake is slightly charred before flipping them over, thus creating the all important Wok Hei. His style of Fried Carrot Cake is crispy with plenty of eggs. Uncle Peter is partially deaf and depends on customers to point to a menu he has at the counter to indicate what they want. It is a single yet effective way to communicate and be on the receiving end of some really wonderful Chye Thow Kuay. General Verdict: One of the best Fried Carrot Cake around that has great Wok Hei and flavour Opening Hours: Daily 12pm-9pm (Closed between 2pm-5pm and Closed on Mondays) Queue Situation: About 5mins to 10mins Price: SG$4 and up (depends on the what is ordered) Payment Mode: Cash, Local Internet Banking by QR code or AMEX (Singapore) Pay Item Ordered: 1) Item: Fried Carrot Cake (Black and White) - Pan fried raddish cake that has half cooked with sweet sauce and the other half normally Description: Crispy, fragrant and filled with eggy goodness Verdict: Very Good, Must Order Price: SG$6

Having my lunch @ Zion Riverside Food Centre. Having โ€œwhite styleโ€ fried white carrot cake (Choy Tau Kou or Lor Pak Kou in Cantonese). Unfortunately, in Singapore this means a crispy styled preparation. If I want the texture akin to that we find in KL, I need to go with the โ€œblack styleโ€. For me, I dislike it as the โ€œblackโ€ comes from the use of โ€œkicap manisโ€ (sweet thick soy sauce) and I prefer my food savoury rather than sweet. So no win situation when having this dish in Singapore. I only order this food item at this one stall in Zion Road called โ€œLou Gohโ€. The proprietor is hard of hearing and usually reads lips to understand the order. In these Covid times, with masks on, he needs another helper to take the orders for him. Kudos to him for persevering and conquering the challenges placed before him. Itโ€™s a decent if not exactly very tasty plate but I feel his efforts are worth supporting and the food good enough to have a simple meal. Support our local hawkers!!! @whiskydev

Pretty good fried carrot cake just that it's a bit too salty for me. Waiting time is pretty long so one must be patient when ordering the food. Point what you want via menu. cheapest option is $5 so its pretty pricy but portion given is good

Located at Zion Road, at the food centre. Traditional comfort food for me. The boss had difficulties hearing. So best way to order was to point to what you wanted. You could opt for the white or black even the mixed options. The carrot cake was good. Flavourful. And at an affordable price. Recommended! The boss would definitely need support from us.
