Was initially here just for the dried ban mian. However, the chicken rice does seems to look appetising so gave it a try as well. The chicken rice is average, but the ban mian is still pretty good and packed with flavour. Did not try foods from other stalls as the portion seemed to be a little small. Overall, the place is a little small so it is difficult to find seats but the ban mian is definitely worth a try.

I had the Wanton Mee and Chendol, the chendol was acceptable, don't think they used gula melaka. The wanton mee was bad, mainly due to the soup, like they kept around for too many days. The pork looked beautiful, but tasted bad also. Don't order the wanton mee. The staff was also rude, but that seemed to be keeping with the quality of the place.

If I could rate this zero stars which is the rightful rating. I should have read all the bad reviews before coming here. Super bad attitude n bad horrible expensive food. Paid $8/-for 3pcs of punny pork bones. The Bak Kut Teh stall guy..treated me like i owe iit to him to accept my order. And he wanted additional $$ fot soup refill. To all tourist and locals, my advice is NEVER PATRONISE THIS PLACE.

Update 27/9/2021 - The food standard has dropped a lot. Not sure what happened, did they change recipe or changed owners? The claypot rice, claypot sesame chicken and claypot klang BKT tastes totally different from 4 months ago. Great tasting food but some of the staff here are seriously rude to another level. Foods here taste somewhat like Malaysia and the prices and portions are very reasonable. Three stars because of the staff’s attitude. Very conveniently located near the Farrer Park MRT (Purple Line). One can expect to spend less than $20 for 3 claypot dishes and 2 drinks.

Char Kuey Teow was decent. They did not allow me to make any changes like “no chilli”. Wanton Mee was a little too sweet, but it did hit the spot. Ban mian was good, but also sweet. Chendol not quite worth the calories. May return if crave for Malaysian food again.

Had the kuey teow, chendol, and popiah. Forgot to take the photo of the kuey teow. The chendol was pretty authentic tasting. Similar to the one i had in penang. However, the ingredients are found to be lacking in quantity. The green jello and the red beans were very much missing and only had a very small quantity. The char kuey teow was not bad. Except it was missing a key ingredient namely the lap cheong. Chinese sausage. Other than that, 70% alike. The popiah was decent. Not fantastic but okay. Not sure why we have to keep our own plates here since it's more a restaurant than a hawker centre.

Let's be fair and honest, the food quality has dropped due to the inflation and the spike rised of food cost, I can accept it, the most is visit lesser since there are other alternative around the corner, that's not my main focus today. Something I want to highlight and cannot tolerate with, is the attitude of the staff at city square mall. I am a regular customer of Fei Xiong Group. I always patrol their stalls at different places all over Singapore, specially Encik Tan at Vivo, Malaysia Boleh at AMK Hub and Jurong Point, Nam Kee Pao at Grandstand and Plaza Singapura and Malaysia Chiak at Centre point, all the staff I have met never show any attitude problems so far except the branch at City Square Mall. I have had encountered a few incidents prior to my sharing today. It was a very unpleasant experience and affected my lunching mood each time. The staff I would like to bring to the attention is the staff in charge of Claypot rice/Bak Kut Teh, this man is always very rude and impatient while serving customers. The other one is the staff preparing the wantoon noodle and ban mian, skinny male Malaysian who simply ignored my special order and showing sign of attitude. This was what had happened, I discovered that I was paying $0.90 for my takeaway, hence clarified why not $0.60. after knowing that charged per container, I decided not to separate my noodle from the soup. He was a bit unhappy but refunded the $0.30. What made me feeling frustrated was my curry noodle was ready, but he told me the ban mian wouldn't be ready so fast but have to wait, fine?. So I stood aside, while waiting, I only saw one customer collected the wanton noodle, no one else. Next one was my turn, question is, why would he wants to delay my ban mian? Why can't he prepare both at the same time? The worse thing is, after I reached home, I saw that the curry has nearly dried up due to the delay on the waiting time and I also didn't get the breast meat I specially ordered which he promised to serve, instead I got a chicken wing with 2 tao pok and two tiny pieces of long bean, which I really dislike chicken wings. Ended up I added luncheon meat to go with the beehoon. I had the feeling that this staff did a "revenge" behind the scene to his customer after being requested a $0.30 refund and causing some trouble to him. Obviously this is an attitude problem!!! The above scenario was only one out of the so many incidents I had encountered and why should I not sharing this with all of you so that I am not the only one but you can also try to experience it yourself. Good Luck!!

Ok to satisfy your Malaysian hawker food cravings without going over the causeway you could count on fei xiong group. This is one of their branches that's compact enough to squeeze in multiple stores. Price point is very reasonable in Singapore context. Food quality is passable. One of those no frill tummy fill eatery. Coffee and tea is surprisingly cheap. If you are in City Square and want some hawker style food. You may give this place a try .
