Best Authentic Japanese restaurant in Singapore

A	Alicia Ho on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A hole in the wall, Minka is easily overshadowed by its neighbours or even the abundant restaurants situated in CBD which consumers are familiar with. While they may look rather unassuming, I assure you their food is really worth every penny and you’ll definitely leave with a satisfied tummy. Expectations should however, be managed as this is not like the usual omakase fare for those who have been exposed to the higher end ones in other restaurants. But overall still a great experience!

My friends brought me here for a surprise birthday dinner knowing how much I love Omakase and I Guess this is a fairly affordable option. I recalled they had the $69 ish option and because I wanted chutoro, we opted for a slightly more expensive option. I don’t think there’s any point to order the cheapest menu for me since they probably don’t have any items I look forward to in an Omakase setting. They didn’t have any Uni on that day itself so it was extremely disappointing. Sushi wise, I felt that it was great for their price but I wouldn’t exactly return again. I think they’re missing that x-factor which is extremely important in this F&B scene where competition is rampant. As an Omakase joint, perhaps they should have more counter seats? I was sitting with my friends at a table so it doesn’t really have an Omakase feel. But I do understand the space is small to start with. Great addition to the Japanese food scene here in Singapore though but I doubt I would return again unless they bring something new.

H	HJ Kim on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice place! I had the 16 course omakase for $68 for dinner and it was pretty good. This place is more fusion Japanese than traditional, it’s quite unique in taste! Like, they used truffle oil on their ama ebi sushi! The ambiance is more like an izakaya, very chill. The place is pretty small so it’s be safer to make a reservation ahead. Want to try the lunch menus next time!

The setting of Minka is down to earth, relaxed and no-frills, with predominantly seats around the counter where the kitchen is open concept. The food is fresh, generously portioned. I had the omakase set (not all dishes/sushi pic included) - including premium ingredients like uni, otoro , sea eel , oyster etc. Enjoyed the omakase:) Highly recommended! A gem in CBD area

Love the unique black vinegar sushi rice which is such a treat for the palate and the unique flavor combination of the various sushi got us humming in satisfaction as we slowly savour each bite. Service was wonderful as the friendly staff ensured our drinks were always refilled and cleared the dishes efficiently. The amiable chef presented each dish perfectly & good-naturedly answered our questions about the food. Conveniently located in the CBD, Minka would be the ideal place to enjoy a delicious omakase meal with friends!

F	Felicia on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ $98 nett Omakase dinner. Definitely very value for money for the quality of the sashimi that was served. We thought there was a Uni rice bowl that will be part of the meal but was wrong, so a little disappointed because the Uni they used for the sushi was so yummy. The rice they serve for the sushi was also different from other places, not our favorite kind but it is something unique (not in a bad way). Staff were friendly too! All in all, it is worth the try.
