β β β β β Craving for some Maguro (Tuna), a shop specialising in it was found at Guoco Tower. Kuro Maguro at Tanjong Pagar is a sister outlet of Maguro Donya over at Suntec City Mall.
This restaurant gets Tuna from their own specialty port in Misaki, Kanagawa, allowing it to have full control over the quality of the fish served at their restaurant.
The Tuna served here is really good and makes one salivate as one enjoys the various cuts. The Don served here is especially yummy and one gets great deals with the J-Passport App. Definitely the place to visit for wonderful Maguro in Singapore.

β β β β β Excellent maguro sashimi (bluefin tuna especially), fresh and tasty fried oysters and many more. Prices are considered very affordable for its portion and quality. Spent less than $200 for a couple with just 1 beer though. They also have $20/hour kind of Free Flow drinks session if youβre up to it! Will return again for sure!

Made a reservation to celebrate my partnerβs birthday after hearing many good reviews of this place. Arrived and informed the waitress of my reservation and she told me to wait outside. Waited for awhile and she came back out asking for my name - she couldnβt find it and questioned if I did actually made a booking.
At this point, I was a bit shocked - she told me the closest name she could find similar to mine was βJefflynβ in which I asked if it was a spelling mistake on their end. Lady STRONGLY denied and insisted that my name wasnβt inside. After searching for a few more minutes - I asked if she could just check my phone number instead, in which she went βoh yeah, good ideaβ.
Finally, it was their mistake and they let us in. She introduced todayβs chef recommended menu and I decided to go with their 7cut Omakase.
Their Omakase was terrible. Every sashimi was so chewy, had tons of tendon in it. The tuna was barely passable.
Agedashi tofu and fried oysters were good and fresh.
Chirashi Don was super average - their chawanmushi was beyond bland.
Premium Otoro Roll was the only saving grace, it really melts in your mouth and was really fresh. I however, think it gets a tad bit βgelatβ after your third or fourth piece. But nevertheless, the only reason why Iβm giving this place any star.
Last, their cleanliness is what concerns me the most. Being sat at the counter seat, I literally watched the female chef took a Sashimi bowl that was just collected back by the server, poured out the ice, briefly rinse with water (NO SOAP) before putting new ice, sashimi and serving it to another table.
^ That is beyond disgusting. Donβt even mention about covid, this is just pure unhygienic that they didnβt even bother washing the bowls with soap. It made me really worried about the exact one I was eating out of.
The price I paid for to the service and cleanliness Nope. If you want to come for their tuna, do come. Otherwise, their other cuts might disappoint you.

β β β β β visited in december 2021. One of the best sashimi and maguro Iβve had in Singapore. Sashimi was airflown on the same day as we visited and the staff highly recommended it. It definitely did not disappoint. The other dishes such as the maguro rib and maguro karaage are also very unique dishes which we did not expect to taste so good. Overall, all the ingredients used were very fresh and while the prices may seem abit steep, it is definitely worth it for the quality and freshness you are getting. 11/10 recommend.

β β β β β Great place for quality sashimi at affordable prices!
Sets are available at both lunch and dinner time. First pic is a lunch set, second and third pics are dinner sets. Dinner sets come with a side of karaage fried chicken and are slightly pricier. The karaage fried chicken is SO GOOD!
Mini dons (third pic) are also available at dinner time - smaller serving of the main but with the same quantity of sides.
Last pic is a zoom-in of the karaage fried chicken but pictures honestly don't do it justice!!! :)

β β β β β Went to this restaurant after saw the youtuber recommendation. Did not regret at all! My hubby enjoy the sashimi 5 cut especially the otoro very much! Really melt in your mouth! Although served 2 pieces per cut, each cut is thick and fat!
Other than the 5 cut, i recommend u all to try out their fried oyster (very fresh and sweet!), Fried gyoza and fried sweet potato as well! Unagi is grilled soft and not bad too.
Otoro sushi so-so, the sashimi is still the best!
Although they are short of manpower that day, their staffs are still very attentive!
Will definitely come again to have their sashimi again!

β β β β β Great place with a great price. If you cannot travel to Japan, you can have a taste of it here and be satisfied! Free flow drinks makes a lot of sense as the price of 20/hr, be prepared to drink!! Service is also fantastic with Peter and Erich ensuring you are topped up! Food wise, anything on the menu is great, the recommendations were fantastic and it's definitely worth it! Would come again if I want a Japanese food fix!!!

β β β β β Love this place! The food served are really delicious and fresh! We especially love the sushi rice in the don. They had the amazing balance of sweet and acidity. We had a wonderful meal.
But we do have a small dissatisfaction. What happened was, while we are really thankful of the generous portion of wasabi and pickle ginger given to us, we didn't want to waste the huge bulk of it that we were not eating. Hence, we ask for a small container from the waiter to pack them home instead. The server kindly gave us a small container, but he did not informed that there would be a charge of 30 cents for it. Not being petty here but would appreciate if he can inform us beforehand, and not letting us to find out that it was chargeable only when I am making the payment.
With that said, I would still like to highlight that is it a place that I would go again, definitely, but maybe let them know to give less condiments the next round.
