My Gerbil had a fall and was getting listless as she was not eating. Dr Tai was gentle and we watch with wonder as she skilfully handled our Gerbil who was anxious (new environment, smells etc). She gently stroked the Gerbil to calm her down. The practice seems to be relatively busy. Best to make an appointment. There is ample public parking. We will be back if necessary. As of the time of writing, our Gerbil is recovering :-)

Dr Tai and her team are very dedicated and professional. We took our girl in on 9 January as she was showing signs of pain and discomfort. Before bringing to Dr Tai we took our girl to our regular vet but nothing was detected next day we took her to a specialist. Took x rays and they suggested CT Scan to further investigate where the pain comes from. We didn't go ahead because this rewuires GA and our girl is 11 yrs old. 2 days later we went to Dr Tai. She was accurate in her findings and started acupuncture treatment. Within 1 treatment we saw the difference. Dr Tai looked at her eyes which has glaucoma and cataract, gave eyedrops for it and all has been well managed. We are forever grateful to Dr Tai & team. Without you, our girl will not be able to recover so fast. Thank you Dr Tai & team.?

I went to Nam Sang Vet Clinic last year with my pet schnauzer. It was told to me that TCM can extend the life of a pet for at least another 1 to 2 years. But unfortunately, within the span of 2 months, she is not here anymore. I had been contemplating TCM for awhile and finally decided to go ahead because my dog was showing signs of early arthritis. While it did help with her condition, other side effects came up, which went by unnoticed. I believe dr tai has been in this industry for many years now. She recommended that I come by at least once a week so that it would be more effective, and from there, slowly reduce the number of visits. Initially, I had highlighted that I did not want my pet to consume chinese medication, but dr tai was not supportive of that and insisted that I fed it to aid in her healing. Also at the end of every session, dr tai would inject a vitamin shot to boost effectiveness. I asked about it and she assured it was okay as it was measured according to body weight. I trusted the vet's expertise and I wanted to do everything I could for my pet. However, I feel that that trust was misplaced. Every dog is different, but I am not a vet and I have not treated dogs. As a medical practitioner, I believed dr tai would have anticipated, observed, or noticed these signs. But she did not. Few weeks after her TCM treatment, my pet was slowly turning yellow and her urine was getting more concentrated. I take the blame for not educating myself on this, but had dr tai noticed, it could have been discovered earlier and the situation could have been prevented. My pet was diagnosed with liver failure. By the time I sent her to a western vet where it was discovered, it was too late. For awhile, I've told dr tai that her urine was getting very yellow and she had been licking the cement, which was very unusual. But she always told me to just let my pet drink more water. To ease my worries, dr tai took a dip-stick urine test for my pet and the results: her urine's specific gravity was at the max concentration. But instead of being concerned that it could be a bigger problem... she dismissed it as dehydration and asked me to feed more liquids by making chicken soup. My pet was also slowly turning yellow and this also went by unnoticed by dr tai. At times, I felt like dr tai didn't care much and it was more about earning the money as she would come in, insert the needles, and leave the room to her assistants without really observing or checking my pet. The visits cost me from $100-$400 depending, and even on my last visit, I was just sold medication which I did not even use. Chinese medication has "cold" and "hot" effects. But the medication you are given does not tell you the name of the prescription, nor the ingredients in them - only codes they understood and you are only told what the medication is for. E.g. chronic pain In my opinion, I felt that her turning yellow and the urine test were a major red flag. The urine test was done on 10 August 2018 and my pet was admitted to the western vet on 14 August 2018 and had to undergo blood transfusion immediately for low oxygen levels and concentrated amounts of urea. Yes it is my fault that as her owner I did not realise and did not do anything sooner. But it is the vet's fault for dismissing it as dehydration rather than educating me on the possible different reasons for her concentrated urine. I would have been able to send her to a western vet for a second opinion and she might still be here today. Acupuncture + medication + injected vitamins... it was a lot of changes in such a short span of time. I should have known better. The doctor should have know better. She is my first dog. She is the runt and she had not even turned 9. I believe acupuncture works, but not giving Chinese medicine and definitely not how little attention was being paid. The vet should have educated me on the whole picture - pros and cons, rather than let me trust blindly. I wish she was still here. I take the blame for this. But I also blame the vet, who is supposed to know better.

Dr. Tai, you described the situation correctly. We consulted you on Whiskey's lump and took your advice to do the full excision. We were distressed this Monday when you informed us over the phone that Whiskey had low-grade cancer. You explained a few treatment options to us, and I did say on the phone that we would go for the chemotherapy over the TCM option. We were distressed (and we still are) and started to google around for different opinions. We wanted to gather more information and realized googling around is not the best way. We decided to look for more professional ideas by seeing other vets. I called you for the report on Tuesday and told you that we wanted to visit other vets for 2nd opinion. At this point, you started to bring up the "trust" issue with us not feeling too happy about our plan to talk to other vets. I planned to gather as much professional advice as possible and come back to you for discussion. As you rightly described, we planned to consult not just one vet, but now three vets for a 2nd opinion. The reason is that I learned about new drugs and options from other professionals, which I wanted to evaluate. Yesterday, I was disappointed to hear from my wife that you asked us to remove stitches by another vet, and you would not want to do anything with Whiskey as we don't "trust" you. Now, we just want to focus on helping Whiskey to fight his cancer.

My cats are community n rescued cats that cannot survive outside. I ever brought my cats to Mt P, AI and JVC but very disappointed. Now I'm a regular client of Nam Sang since year 2019. On top of necessary medical care, Dr Tai provides heart warming care that I never see at other clinics. For examples, aroma spray to calm down cat n owner, apply gel on subcut point to minimize pain... etc. To her it is little thing, to me it means a lots. My paralyzed boy was advised to put down at hospital n clinic in yr 2020. Dr Tai helped him to get through difficult times, e.g. UTI, pneumonia ... etc. while treating his serious injury on spine. Happy to see new bone grow between disconnected spine n recover some nerves. Very thankful to her to provide comfort care to my cats that had terminal illness, at least they able to enjoy their favorite food in their last journey ?

if you’re concerned about the harmful side effects of conventional medicine and looking for a more natural alternative that isn’t hogwash, this is it. dr tai helped our cat recover from her nasty 10-min coughing/wheezing/sneezing fits with her δΈθ₯Ώεˆζ‹Ό east-meets-west expertise, combining the best of modern medicine with traditional chinese medicine to yield the best results. before dr tai, our previous regular vet advised us to run a battery of tests on our cat or to consider starting a steroid trial, which could mean our then-one-year-old cat will be on steroids for the rest of her life. while we understood she had good intentions, we hoped for a better, more natural alternative that didn’t come bundled with side effects. after being sponged by a TCM-only vet who charged us $550 for medication and one acupuncture session (and after that being told that our cat β€œmay die” if we don’t bring her in every 3 days for treatment), we found dr tai. contrary to what another reviewer is saying, dr tai truly cares for her furry patients. she is firm yet gentle, knowing when to distract them so she may gingerly insert another acupuncture needle; realistic but not all doom-and-gloom or excessive in her diagnosis, understanding that most pet owners do not own gold mines. instead of treatment every 3 days, we only had to bring tux is every 2 weeks, then every month when tux got better. after 5 treatments, tux stopped coughing entirely. to this day (one year later), tux is still energetic and chatty, completely unlike her silent and scared self when she was ill. (another instance is while another well-meaning vet recommended that we bring tux for dental scaling ASAP [read: very expensive!], dr tai understood that we don’t have that much spare cash and gave us some other (more affordable) ways to keep tux’s teeth clean and healthy the best we can... to this day we’re still using the herbal solutions she recommended and seeing healthy pink gums on a gingivitis-prone cat.) the treatments are reasonably pricedβ€”each acupuncture session costs about $100, but includes a vitamin b jab at the end that helps enhance the effectiveness of the tcm treatment. also because it’s east-meets-west, medications are a lot easier to feed than the powdered herbs from a tcm-only vet. prices for β€œmedication” (actually more like supplements that gradually and naturally balance your pet’s internal state) are also very reasonable, from my memory about $10 to $30 each and lasting for quite long. every time we visit nam sang, there’ll be stray kitties that dr tai is fostering in her clinic for one animal welfare organisation or another. sometimes one or two, sometimes a whole litter. so to say that the kind-hearted souls at this clinic don’t care, or that they are just out for the money... is grossly inaccurate. we recommend nam sang wholeheartedly. I would like to share the story happened to our JRT regarding "second opinion" recently. *Second opinion for cancer treatments* We would like to have second opinions because there is no second chance for Whisky(My puppy). His life is once. He is our family. Whisky (my 15-month-old puppy) had surgery on 5th October at NAM SANG VETERINARY CLINIC. Dr. Tai sent the tumor to a pathology lab to check if it is benign or malignant. The report came out. Dr. Tai gave me a call on 11th October (Monday) and told us it was malignant. She advised us to try chemotherapy which is Palladia (oral). Because she told us she is unsure if all cancer cells were removed. The tumor is right next to Whisk's nose. She can't cut or damage his nose. We never expected such a young puppy to have cancer and never studied about dog oncology before. We did not have any idea or information about it. We did not know what kinds of treatment options exist in Singapore. So we googled and googled. I asked around for advice from people. Then I came up with one idea that is "SECOND OPINION" To find the best way (we can believe) for our Whisky, our family. So we asked Dr. Tai if we could receive the pathology report soon for a second opinion. She was upset and unhappy. Today, I needed to have a referral from Dr. Tai to see another vet at Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Hospital that is one of my friends' recommendation. So I called Dr. Tai. She was very upset about what we were doing. Whisky is supposed to see her remove his stitches on 19th October but she told me that she would not see Whisky anymore. I asked why. Then she said "It's the trust issue. You don't trust me. You go to another doctor to have a second opinion, then, you go ahead with them. I won't see you anymore." I was extremely shocked. Tears fell down... I asked her because she gave Whisky surgery if she could remove his stitches. She said that the stitches were tiny and that I could go somewhere else to remove it. I told her a second opinion does not mean we don't trust her. It's all for Whisky and it does not mean we underestimate you. Chemotherapy is tough as there are side effects. However, Whisky most likely will not live long like other healthy dogs. His life is once. He has no second chance. It's for the rest of our life. We saw Dr. Nicholas at Advanced Vetcare for a second opinion. Dr. Nicolas introduced Vinblastine (IV) to us for cancer treatment. Now we have two options. If we did not seek a second opinion, we did not know another treatment available. I have two more appointments with Jireh veterinary clinic and Veterinary emergency & specialty Hospital. We would like to do research as much as possible and decide the way to go. It's our life. If I were a vet, I pray for all pets and families. I would like to share my knowledge and the information that I have gathered to help and support them. With love, Whisky's mom, Heryong
