Post Covid-19 shutdowns NeWest had reinvented itself. It is now a thriving mall with lots of owner-operated restaurants, bistros, cafes and even a barber shop. Due to its proximity to the Japanese kindergarten and expatriate communities, it has a high number of Japanese ramen, restaurants and even an omakase. Recent addition of Waffletown resulted in a quantum leap in diners and gawkers. Yes, and who says the West is a foodie desert? Psst; by the way, a little bird told me that the shops were all given ample supply of complimentary parking tickets. Yet they were seldom given out - so ask for it

The mall is rather dead with only a handful of shops opened for business.

People living there will respect people. That’s what I like abt the place. Beside the shopping mall, are private residential property. Hope they will open Cold Storage or delifrance there sometime.

Quite number of food stalls behind facing AYE but not good place to eat in open as smokers smoke a lot. Have to breathe in quite a lot of secondary smoke.

This is the worst Springleaf. The empty tables were unclean laden with gravy. Politely asked the staff to clean the table but didn’t get any acknowledgment (see the boys in red shirt in photo). Asked again and an Indian begrudgingly came with a dirty cloth to sweep the food reside onto the floor. Disgusting. In the end we took our own tissue papers and used their hand disinfectant to clean the table.

Walking from the bus stop thru this still-new commercial/residential development gives one a feel of newness. But it TOP'ed/opened about 2 years before the start of the pandemic, yet todate, not all shops are open, possibly aggravated by the pandemic. Security checkpoints which ensured Covid-19 is kept out during the pandemic are now focused on ensuring that only vaccinated are admitted. Thanks to them for working round the clock despite the sweltering heat, countered by only a table fan of hot air. Efforts to bring in patrons include lunch time free parking, even though for rather short 1½ hour duration. Still, the place is quite quiet by day. But by night, there's a bustling of activity at alfresco food & beverage areas. That said, I love the indoor chicken rice outlet which has a porridge option to go with the chicken. Next, we had a hot mug of well mixed teh tarek. Noticed some outlets, like a bento one didn't survive Covid-19. Now that covid measures are relaxed, expectations brew in the hope this place could be a thriving place in that this vastly residential area. Keep growing!

Lots of great food here. Little crowd. Most shops were closed when we visited on Sunday afternoon. The outdoor area seems nice for nighttime dining. Affordable fare as well. Only downside is that it's a little out of the way.
