Dr Lim was extremely dismissive, assuming my questions and answering them before i could even finish my sentence. Felt like a nuisance in her office. Said that I could wear my contact lens before the surgery, but this was contradicted by her own nurse and FAQ pamphlet that they give out after the consultation. Said i was eligible for SMILE surgery, but her nurses told me ONE day before the surgery (I had booked 3 weeks prior) that I am actually not and that Dr Lim could try do normal LASIK on me. I had took days off to prep myself. Dr Lim also suggested ICL during our consultation, but said that i would have to be admitted to the hospital and go under general anesthesia, which is not the case for many ICL patients. I have never made a public review of any service before, but thought others should know about this clinic. These are our EYES, not weekend steak dinner.

Not sure if its our local culture, system or process that led to this unpleasant experience of mine. I tried to call in and make an appointment for my gal who needed further checks on her vision, potentially lazy eye. It was picked up during her annual assessment at Clementi Polyclinic and doc referred us to NUH team knowing they are well versed and specialised in Paediatrics Ophthalmology. But appointment given was too far out, 2-3 mths later. So I tried to call directly in hope to get a sooner appmt in big worry that lazy eye can deteriorate if left untreated. First reaction I got was, Yes it will cost much more if you decide to come earlier, ie without referral letter and appointment. Be reminded that the fees are this and this, before GST. I tried to request for another window as given time was in direct conflict with my mom’s medical appmt. Reply was, nope there is only one slot available, do you still want it? I went directly for private clinic after that call. Lots of work need to be done at our so-called local public medical institutions, first is maybe to train staff to have more empathy, be less practical and attempt to be caring.

The NUH EYE CENTER is situated on Level 17 of NUH Medical Center. Passing though one of the clinic’s corridors yielded some interesting artworks. What a sight for sore eyes... simply beautiful. Art is always a welcome sight st hospitals... more such works should be displayed in more hospitals.

We have appointment at 10Am but waited until 12:45Pm. Doctor Lim basically had no eye contact with us but very mechanically regurgitated her options. Understand she must be tired with the whole morning work, but as patient and patient family, we do feel the consultation is a very bad experience.

There is no urgency or respect of patients time. Had taken an appointment 6 weeks in advance for a simple eye check up at 940 AM and as called in only at 1030 . Understand this is a Public Health Service and should not expect VIP treatment but when patients too take time off from work and are there as scheduled, making them wait for almost 50 mins after their appt times is quite callous and indifferent. However once the number came up , subsequent processing was quite effective and brisk . Dr Ganga was patient ( no pun intended ) and very friendly and explained the results in detail.

Lousy and dishonest service at NUH eye centre. I called the GP hotline to get a consultant appointment and was given Dr Viven Lim and was also told that Dr Vivien is only a consultant and I will only pay consultant rate, but when I reached the clinic, I was told that Dr Vivien Lim is SENIOR CONSULTANT and I hv to pay SENIOR CONSULTANT RATE!!!!! Is your Senior consultant so poor that you have to stoop so low to trick me into getting a senior consultant's appointment?

Went in for a checkup. Great experience. Overall will recommend. Good: - I was assigned Dr Loon, and he was literally the best doctor I've ever had. He had wonderful bedside manners, immediately made me feel at ease with his jovial attitude and humour, and was patient in answering all my questions. - Staff were all super nice and you could tell they enjoyed working there - If you email in to schedule an appt, the staff are super nice and helpful. - Nice view of the surrounding area - Conveniently located on top of MRT Not so good: - It may be quite hard to schedule an appt. I was lucky to have mine in a week. The next available slot would have been 1.5 months away. But hey - it's a government hospital serving lots of patients - Don't bother calling in cos no one picks up. If you want to call, just go SGH's National Eye Centre instead. - Wait times for consult and payment can be a little longer (10-20mins).Not good if you are in a rush - Lifts up to the clinic can get quite crowded - You need to download the NUHS app to easily access your appt - When confirming your appt, they send you a barrage of emails

While arranging the A4 paper at home on 2 June 9pm, I suffered a cut at my cornea with one of the A4 paper. That night, I experienced a pain of almost 10/10. The next day 3rd June, I went to consult Dr Lin Xin at Queenstown Polyclinic. My appointment was 9am. I managed to see her at the exact appointment timing. When she saw me, she greeted me with a pleasant smile. She did a very thorough check on my left eye and advised me to go to NUH A & E immediately. She explained to me the constraints that she had for not being able to prescribe me any eye drop. I understand that further tests were necessary to ascertain the medication I needed but I was worried about the long wait at NUH A&E. ( my pet dog just had an operation I need to be home as soon as possible) When I reached NUH A&E at 945am, I was quite optimistic about the wait. It was quiet at A&E and the wait time was estimated to be 1.5hours. However, after a 45 min wait, I was redirected to the Medical Centre Level 17 Eye Clinic. The wait at the clinic was long and cold. ( doctors or nurses could adjust the air con or offer a blanket) When it was finally my turn to see the doctor, the young lady doctor ( I believe she is Dr Ong CW, I asked the counter staff for her name) was so engrossed with her computer than with the patient, myself. She could have communicated with the β€œreferral letter” that is why she didn’t ask me much about why I was hurt. When I asked her about the application of eye drop that she will be prescribing me, whether to apply for both eyes, instead of answering me, she asked me back β€œ which eye of yours was hurt?” Thank you doctor, you made me feel so lousy and silly. I am already experiencing the eye pain, you have not been doing your duty to ensure the patient feels emotionally and physically comfortable. When I asked her about including a diagnosis in the medical certificate or a sentence to indicate my medical condition, she rejected me straight in the face that she is unable to do so. If I wish to have one, I will need to proceed to the counter for a medical report and this comes with a charge. May I know if this is a new initiative by NUH? For my accident insurance claim, I will only need a short sentence to describe that this cornea abrasion is due to an accident. Personally, I feel that the professionalism of the doctor who attended to me is lacking of empathy and care. May I urge NUH to look into this matter. The waiting time at the specialist eye clinic does not have respect for patient’s time. The care and concern that doctors need to have need to be improved.
