Was googling for lunch ideas and decided to give Shao a try. It's not your usual teochew restaurant since the deco is modern and homely. We order their signature dishes since it was our first visit. Squid sausage smells so good when served. It is something we can't find else where. Though it is a bit oily, it's worth a try. Their horfun has the wok hei which we like. Claypot grouper has a generous variety of vegetable, tofu, fish. Their clams are good too. Overall, we had a satisfying meal.

Very enjoyable Teochew cuisine. Must try the raw crab and the oyster porridge. Steam and fried yellow fish is great.

Made reservation for dinner and was told to order in advance. Communication was seamless, service is good. Was looking forward to taste their food. The first floor was cosy environment especially like their outdoor look. We were arranged to be seated at exclusive corner of second floor. Well, rather difficult to call for service as they only come in when they served food. So we got to walk out whenever we needed some help. Food wise, the Pao Fan, sotong sausage and yam cheese are flavourful. Their signature barbecue crab Is just very average. Also don’t like the texture of the crab, prefer firmer. Stomach picked soup is overpowered with too much pickled vegetables. Bamboo clam the vermicelli is too starchy and soggy. Quite overrated. Okay for a normal meal but nothing wow at all.

First time at this cozy little place. It comes across to me as a fusion place rather than a purely teochew cuisine restaurant. Had a couple of dishes and personally found them to be quite satisfying. Soy sauce marinated crabs. Do order in advance to avoid any disappointment. I gather the inspiration was from the Korean version. Shao's version is salty, roe was abundant and overall a delicious dish. Squid sausage. Very interesting texture and flavor. Would definitely order again. Grouper claypot. We found the fish to be fresh, soup to be just nice , not too salty, and quite a comforting dish. Orh nee. My wife didn't quite like the osthmanthus flower. But I grew accustomed after a few more mouthfuls. Will order this again too. Oyster omelette. The omelette has a weird flavor. We left more than half of the omelette. Just picked out the oysters. In summary it's quite all right, will come back again.

Went for dinner last night, my first visit, food was great but service was the factor that would make me return again , we were assisted by staff named Happy, true to her name , she made our dinner very enjoyable , she constantly came over to check with us, took the initiative to change our plates, and was very affable and friendly! The restaurant gave us complimentary prosperity buns cos it was my grandma’s 85th bday. Dishes that we enjoyed particularly were the squid sausage (must-order), salt n pepper chicken wings, marinated cockles , crab tanghoon. The roast pork serving was quite big for the $20 portion, just wish they had sliced it thinner though. Would definitely visit again. Thank you for the superb service !

Great first experience. Only tried 5 items - Fish Maw soup was hearty and full of ingredients. - Steamed Crab with Egg White was flavourful, makes you want to go back for more. - The Pao Fan (no photo) had a rich broth, generous fish slices and slightly crispy rice that was so satisfying. - The Signature Sotong Sausage was packed with flavour. - The Orn Nee dessert was the only minus point as it had too much syrup and I found it too sweet. Overall the ambience was great but the icing on the cake was the excellent and friendly service. I didn't not refill my bowl with Pao Fan even once - the attentive staff noticed my bowl was empty and offered to top it up from the big bowl every time. Will definitely be back to try other dishes!

Interesting cafe concept for Chinese food. Overall Food was really good and had very generous portion for the price. Complaint is that the staff did not understand local customs or eating habits. Even when asking for condiments it was very hard to communicate what we needed, hopefully this can be improved upon.
