Fantastic evening! Henry’s interpretation and execution of the dishes was mind blowing. The effort and focus placed on the procuring of the ingredients, preparation, cooking methods and processes was impeccable. My favourites: Hokkien fried mee and the braised mustard green in claypot. Can’t wait for the next opportunity to dine again!

Expect to be fed well in body and soul! Chef Henry uses freshest ingredients and spares no effort in bringing out the best in every dish. You can taste the enthusiasm in every dish from the hokkien mee cooked in intense prawn stock and fried with lard, to the 4 ingredient double boiled umami chicken soup, to his desserts, which go down easy although you can no longer breathe because of the generous portions of food before.

Henry was a great host and had a nice flow to the dinner with each dish having its own story. A personal favourite was the soup. I was very pleased with how it was bursting with umami and sat very nicely on the palate without being overpowering thanks to its balance.

They say the east is a treasure cove for culinary hunts, and Liu Fu is definitely one to uncover. From Chef Henry’s very own kitchen, one can be treated with refined rendition of local dishes from the black pepper crab, to Hokkien Mee to other less known dishes from the 1980s. Every course we had in our dinner was executed perfectly with passion and soul. Chef Henry was also generous in sharing stories, particularly those who enjoy the historical context of Singapore’s culinary history. Good luck with getting a reservation though!

The concept of Mom's cooking or 妈妈菜 is delightfully felt and represented in each and every one of the dishes served by Chef Henry. Where nothing but the best is served out of the love for the ones that would eat his food. Only the best possible version that is deemed satisfactory is served just as a mother would only provide the best to their child. The version that has been tirelessly refined over time after countless trials and errors, in the pursue of the 怀旧古早味, one that he is happy to serve. An experience at 劉府私房菜 is not only a memory that would be remembered for the longest time, but a memory that craves to be refreshed at the closest opportunity. It is very difficult to pick a favourite, because surely the next visit to 劉府私房菜 will present even more unexpected and intense flavours

This is our 2nd time back to enjoy the delish flavours of home. We had a wonderful and memorable time once again. This experience was a culmination of great company, family bonding, meaningful conversations and the delectable food prepared with great care and attention to detail by Chef Henry. Not forgetting the wonderful stories that he shares, including the many experiments he conducts just to get the right combination and flavour for his dish. 真得让人来了又来!

It was my 3rd visit and I was totally blown away by the flavors of the dishes, particularly the traditional soup dish. I am never a big fan of vegetables, which this soup dish primarily contained, so it really shows how amazing it was. The taste was so exquisite (emcompassed the sour, sweet, bitter and spicy taste) that it naturally became my favorite dish of the evening when the chef asked which was our favorite dish. I am a seafood person so I really enjoyed the big shrimps and the yummy crabs. Will definitely be back again if I manage to get availability in the next month or so!

Unbelievable dishes curated by Chef Henry. Each dish has its own surprise and story behind it which made the food that much more meaningful. The attention to detail being utilised in Chef Henry's culinary skills really amazed me. Truly took "Grandma's Cooking" to a whole new level! Will definitely want to come back for more!
