Sin Hoi Sai Eating House - 187 E Coast Rd

Goodness! taste so awful!!! no wok hey, fish slices are fishy and the beehoon is tasteless! I haven't eaten for about 6 months! what has gone so wrong! they used to be one of the better Zi char in Katong area.

I think the last last time I ate here was either more than 5 years, or even 10 years ago, however, one thing I remembered from last visit was it wasn't that nice and pricey. Indeed, still the same this time round. Firstly, as we were a large group of 9 persons, most of the dishes we ordered were large size. However, when served, the portion came about is at most medium size, or between small to medium for some dishes. Secondly, taste is also average or below average. The dou miao was very salty, and so as the egg but can be forgiven as there were cai por in it. The pork ribs were ok. The spinach and mushroom were average tasting too. Curry fish head were soso, and while the gravy was thick, the fish head and vegetables were of little portion and curry tasted quite 'instant. Worst dish of all of the night were the fish head steamboat. At $28, the portion were so miserable, little vegetables, little chopped fried fish head here and then. Soup tasted salty and no fish head fragrant smell. Other places at $40 with charcoal steamboat, lots of vegetables and pipping hot soup with decent fish meat. Thirdly, which is a normal scene there but I still find it annoying. The place is so crowded and they just placed tables all over and close to the road, leaving little space to walk and a lot of people passed through that narrow space. Surprisingly, this is legal and no enforcement to have them create a decent walking space between their tables and the road. Overall, still as bad as before and never gonna come back again, unless, of course, someone is buying and wants to go there...fair enough.

Not sure if they are related to the shop with the same name at Tiong Bahru. Menu looks different. Super fast service, cheap and good Zi Char. Parking can be a big problem, parking wardens come really frequently. Accepts only cash or Paynow. No credit cards payment.

Located along east coast road. Opens till wee late hours not sure exactly when but during nowadays covid period you can find eatery that opens 11+ 12+ is rare already. Almost everywhere is dead town after 11 since I also grab.. Food is above average but price is zi char price loh not cheap but not overly expensive too lah. 2 pax 3 dishes about 30+ Highly recommend their claypot tofu and sweet and sour pork.. luo han zai not bad either cheers..

Again another place to go for mid night supper with fiancé We ordered Sweet sour pork, Luo hon zhai, signature tofu, all are good and simple good food to pair with rice. Economic and value for money also. A good place to explore for Chinese food for supper.

I've been going to Sin Hoi Sai almost every week for the past 2 years and it's become a sort of a comfort food for me. Excelled dishes, lovely owner lady and there's a certain warmth in all of the food being served. Open till late 3AM and they're such hardworking people. Undoubtedly the best Zi Char place in all of Singapore

Decent place for a quick bite late evening. The pepper fish was very peppery (spicy) with some mushrooms and carrots with it. The crab fried rice was good for the price point with a few tiny chunks of crab. The food with the coconut set me back by 25$.

Chinese casual restaurant beside of East Coast road. Pricing is like hawker and taste ok. They open until midnight and it is good for supper. Their beer is very cold and it is so nice under the Sun. Payment methods are not many and staffs hospitality is not high level. But we can enjoy enough.
