Best Chinese restaurant in Singapore

W	WAI REN on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The food is so so. Lack of pictures to show what you are ordering from the menu. Portions are very small. Hard to share. I organise school gathering to treat our teachers. Each dish easily $15-$20. Strongly suggest the restaurant to increase portion size as I notice very little patrons on Friday evening. The dishes you should order are : Sour plum fried chicken. Salted egg pork biscuit. Braised pork belly. These three are good. The rest are so so. Overall enjoyed the dinner not because of the food but because it was a good gathering and the service is actually quite good. They pour hot tea for you very frequently as well as top up the free flow porridge.

I truly enjoyed the meal and the service provided was really good too. I will recommend the steamed seabass fish, the curry leaves chicken & xiao long bao! Spent about an average of $30ish for one person. Definitely going back there again when given a chance.

These include their airy & fluffy Pan-Fried Omelette that comes with fragrant chye poh as well as their Braised Pork Belly with fats that melt languidly on the tongue Other highlights of the meal include the HK Style Seabass which was steamed to flaky perfection as well as the Pan-Fried Tiger Prawns which is well-worth the effort of peeling. Will definitely be back again!

We highly recommend the prawn paste chicken and ngoh hiong. Also, there’s salted eggs for old school people like us to enjoy the porridge with. Overall it was a good experience in a nice restaurant with a friendly lady boss. Suitable for families and big gatherings.

Their boss Karen is always very friendly and nice too. She will always remember what I like and serve me with my favourite snacks or desserts!

Unfortunately, my lunch here was unpalatable. We were billed with a dish stated there would be cashew nuts for our Kung Bao Chicken. Unfortunately, the ingredient was not included in this dish. The chicken was tough and sauce had a bitter after taste. We ordered a special request order. We were charged Ma Po Toufu at $13.90. We accepted the price charge. However, the portion served was small. Thankfully, this dish was relatively well seasoned but not as spicy as I would prefer. Sadly, we will not return to dine in this place.

The sweetness of the seafood blends into their porridge. Every mouth tempts me to want more. Steamed seabass was very fresh, it has a smooth consistency with a subtle sweetness. It doesn’t have a strong “fishy” taste.

Since the porridge is free flow, you can just slowly eat and enjoy your time. The foods were good but didn’t leave any special impression. Try those recommend dishes as a start. Desserts were different from what we expected maybe because it’s Taiwanese style.
