Outlet: Jurong Point Store Upon recommendations, I visited the Jurong Point store on the week of 11th April with the hopes of getting my first mirrorless camera. Being a total newbie into this hobby, it can be very apprehensive walking into the store and ask for more information and I was right, at first. Approached an uncle for advice and was told to research more by myself (full-frame vs crop-sensors etc.) before going to them and just "pick and go" some other day. Totally upset and I was about to walk away until I convinced myself to not make this a wasted trip. I hesitated for a long while and finally tried to approach another guy, Alex, and asked more stuffs about cameras. I'm glad that he took the conversations casually and I was pretty comfortable asking all the newbie questions. A couple of days later, I walked back to the store and bought the Sony A7iv. A week later, I walked into the store again and bought a camera sling back assisted by Ah Yow and Leonard. Similarly, I felt very comfortable being there in the store and talking to them; it felt like a small enthusiast community over there instead of just a place where we pick stuffs and off we go. Again, a couple of weeks later, I went to the store, chit-chat with Alex and grabbed a camera strap. Overall experience thus far was great. It definitely felt like a place where we can just browse and chat about the stuffs casually with no obligations to purchase, no hard-selling. By all means we could have just bought stuffs from e-commerce platforms (for the same price) but the shopping experience is what brick-and-mortar stores can offer and e-commerce platforms can't. Giving my thanks to Alex, Ah Yow and Leonard for making the store a place a friendly one to visit. And thanks for SLR Revolution having a store at the heartlands.
