The Humble Pie & The Ugly Cake Shop - 501 Orchard Rd

Came to know about this place via Chope deals. Saw some good reviews on the cakes, so I bought the deals. However, the staff insist management removed redemption of tarts for the deals, while the terms & conditions clearly stated that tarts are redeemable too. Poor management! Their famous black velvet was dry and too sweet anyway. Avoid this place at all cost.

Bought 1 Chickypork Shepherd Pie and a beef lasagna. Both items are so very delicious. Service staff were very friendly and courteous. Gave instructions on reheating items at home. Highly recommended and will buy again.

Not a blogger or influencer. Happened to walk by after facial and decided to dapao the lamb pie and tofu brownies due to the reviews. They sprinkled parmesan cheese on top and gave instructions to heat up in oven till golden on top. The lamb pie has a very strong smell of mutton and lots of sinewy chewy bits and a large piece of bay leaf in my mouth. If you do not like gamey tastes then this is not for you. Tofu brownie is lacking something, maybe a touch of coffee to bring out the chocolate flavour. Can't have too high expectations due to the price tag.

Cheese scone is huge and super good, and they’re really generous with the marmalade they give on the side as well. Ordered the Cottage Pie and they’re so generous with the beef inside! Hummingbird Cake is moist and not too sweet. Coffee is also really fragrant and not too acidic. We were so happy with the food that we bought more to go ??

Shepherd’s pie was yummy and just the right size so that you’ll have room for dessert! Service was also really great. Not much seating but it’s a nice place to relax on a weekday afternoon.

Shepherd's Pie - Lamb Chicky Pork Pie ? Food wise: Crusty side crust with soft and fluffy top crust, so savoury that one wouldn't mind eating more of it. Generous amount of meat and other ingredients in this small pie! The lamb was more delicious than the pork pie, the flavour just feels right and good for the lamb. For chicky pork pie, probably not for me. Shall try the Cottage pie (beef) and the Lasagna(beef) next time! ✨ Ambience wise: Nice little stall with pet fish by our side! ?? Service wise: Great! ? Started from a humble beginning as a home based business and sets to bring everyone unpretentious good Shepherd Pies and Cakes, @thehumblepieandtheuglycakeshop has now expanded to a cosy cafe kiosk at Wheelock Place. This place has such a cozy atmosphere when you're eating there with the friendly staffs bringing you greater dining experience. A pity I have to rush for meeting hence I got to takeaway. HOWEVER! A good pie is even when you takeaway, it doesn't loses it flavour. And glad to announce @thehumblepieandtheuglycakeshop nailed it! Upon receiving my pies, I could easily detect the delectable aroma of the savoury pies emanating from beneath the covers. And upon open up, I'm very pleased to see they're baked till perfect golden brown top. The moment I deep my spoon into the pies and pull it out, I can see that perfect fillings to mashed potatoes ratio. The mashed potatoes top are crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside, and is extremely fluffy and melts in my mouth. The filling is very flavourful. When all combine into 1 mouthful, a very delicious comfort Shepherd Pie indeed!!! Especially love the creation of chicken and pork mixed, the pork here lends a moist texture to the chicken and makes it even juicer. The beef and lamb pie wasn't gamey at all. The Humble Pie and The Ugly Cake Shop offers a variety of shepherd’s pie and I got to try 3 of them. The Beef Pie, Lamb Pie and Chicky Pork Pie. Depending on the meat you will love, I will specially vote for the lamb pie as I really enjoyed the well flavour combination with juicy minced lamb, spices and herbs topped with mashed potato. I fell in love with their tofu brownies and carrot cake instantly. Their tofu brownies is a guilt-free dessert to go for as its almost zero sugar. The dark chocolatey flavour was intense. I really like the dense yet smooth texture and the added crunch from the nut. The carrot cake had many layers of flavours which I enjoyed. The carrots, dried fruits, the cinnamon, the cream cheese and also the added crunch from the nut. It’s just so comforting to have
