Good Teochew Muay @ Ye Lai Xiang Bukit Merah View on 28Sep2017 sis went to order the dishes.she got 2 fishes + 7 veg for S$18 for 3pax. ye lai xiang in my view NOT ye shanghai standard..the place had much lower traffic c/w when ye shanghai was here…S$18 seems cheap but i think a bit more expensive c/w ye shanghai.i think the 2 fishes more ex, may S$10 together.this larger than the CNY rabbit fish 知县鱼, seen it before but not sure if same breed of fish.anyway it was tastier than it looked..lol! ?this fish also maybe not kambong…sees it often..also sweet. generally the veg dishes were good but not the standard of ye shanghai…quite far in my view.veg a simple thing right, which means ye shanghai veg dishes really good la! ?tau kee was ok, sweet, ordinary.. spinach was ok, but by comparison ye shanghai this was below par la.. revisit 13jun2022 $30 teochew muay really ex!! cannot make it! $16 mullet no scales! so cannot lift up skin got to tear..the most precious parts fish fats removed! flesh is soft & marshy not firm cos not chilled veg - tofu dish best, sweet tasty..eggplant & tai kee dish good..lala ok..cabbage, broccoli so so.. lady fingers poor… ============ likewise for the luffa 丝瓜..and bittergourd.. this cauliflower+brocoli was ok…i took the tau kua too… chap chai ok…leeks a bit nicer…i think the nicest of the veg so in my view, ye lai xiang c/w ye shanghai 要矮了一载 not the same standard for the vegetable dishes.

Nice place for dinner or supper and prices is reasonable food is good too.

Expensive. 2 meat 2 veg cost $5.9. Tasted just like any other mixed veg rice..

Love this Teochew Porridge shop as it serves traditional fare almost all meal periods including past midnight. You will see a queue of uncles and aunties all day

There are 3 things about a food outlet that you can derive at when you see taxi uncles gathered regularly- 1. Parking is convenient 2. Food is good 3. Price is reasonable And indeed, this porridge place has all 3 things. One of those few Teochew porridge place that served your usual comfort food at reasonable price!

Use to go there for midnight supper.Parking was good, right in front.Nit very crowded on week days,but not on weekend. Dishes , plenty of choices for both rice and porridge. Place located inside coffeeshop.

Last visited b4 COVID some 2½ years ago. Now the standard had dropped so much & price increased by about 25%. The fish was tough (loco), cabbage tasteless, tau kee so so. Luckily the minced pork was nice.

I have been looking for a decent place for teochew porridge after 夜上海 was closed. Decided to gave this place a try. It's very similar to 夜上海，but I thought there were less food choices and cooking was not as good as 夜上海。Overall is still quite good, but it didn't top my expectations. The place is kind of crowded, but there are plenty of seats and parking is very convenient too. Probably will come back to try some more other dishes.
