β β β β β Chicken rice was okay but their chicken is hands down one of the best I've had in Singapore. Chicken was probably ice bathed to stop it from overcooking and as such, was served cold. Zi char dishes were okay but kinda pricy for the quantity(especially the prawn)

β β β β β Chicken is great, fish is too fat, it's ok in general. I like the lime juice

β β β β β I have been to Upper Bukit Tah branch, River Valley branch and Balesrier branch but this branch was 1st time being there to treat guests.
Spacious shop, simple Chinese restaurant layout with elder people serving customers.
Needless to mention of food being good quality with nice taste the very reason they have been in the market for years.

β β β β β Since my last visit, think it's about close to a year.
BTK has kept its food standard I must say.
Service be it at Whampoa or Balestier are good as staff are friendly.
It's just that the price is little steep.
Family of 3, we ordered:
1. Steam chicken (small)
2. Sweet sour pour (small)
3. Deep Fried Beancurd
4. Deep Fried Prawnroll
5. 2 plain rice
6. 1 warm Barley
7. 1 Coke
- steam chicken is tender and smooth
- sweet sour pork has the right flavour of a good tanginess and sweetness. however would appreciate the pieces to have more meat as I ate some had more batter
- beancurd is their specialty. Softness of the beancurd when coated with the light crisp of the batter just melts in the mouth. Not sure if today's order the batter tasted little salty (out of 3 of us, only I felt so as I have a lighter taste of palatte)
- prawnroll was genuine is the stuffing and was able to taste bits of meat and seasoning was just right!
Total damage: $66.85

β β β β β If you're looking for hainanese chicken rice, and you're in the area, they're your go-to. The quality of their chicken rice has been consistent for a long time now. Whether it's the rice, the steamed chicken, or the chilli, the chefs do them really well.
One thing about this outlet though, is the size of the restaurant. It's not very large, being under a HDB block. The place is full very quickly, and you'd have to wait until people are done which takes a while. Smaller groups are served much faster (2 of us got the table, skipped queues). That said, if not, their takeaway packs are very well done.
Aunties here are also extremely friendly, which helps the overall dining experience.

β β β β β This place scores 4.3 from 1100 reviews! There are good reasons: the rice is soft and fragrant, the chili has a good balance of chili and salt, the chicken is tender even the breast meat! I ordered white boneless chicken without skin and it is amazing! (They are served without fats also!) And the old cucumber soup base is good, and includes dried squid, barley, red dates, gogiberries, south almond, and fried Pheonix feet (fried to saturate the taste!). Queue is long for only 10 tables, but turnaround is fast. Non-peak hours recommended.
