We enjoyed every bits of the carrot cake. Generous portion and soft too. Will definitely come back again and also recommend this place.

Heard of this store before but chanced upon them today as they moved to a new location. I'm not really a fan of carrot cake but my this is really good. Its crispy but not oily, and the carrot cubes had very deep flavour like they were cooked in stocks. Chili is great as well. Will definitely come back.

Frankly speaking the food standard drops a lot compare to the old time when I ate it at some carnival fair. The carrot cake is very normal to me and I don't taste or smell any wok hei induced into it. Perhaps I ordered food delivery and I will try again at the store soon.

Crowded and look popular. New stall of about 3 months at this coffees which open about same time as the western stall cheekylads. Nice to see young hawkers, this stall run is by a young lady. Carrot cake not oily and pretty good. Prefer the white version. Stall also has carrot cake with bacon.

When having fried carrot cake, I find there are 2 main kinds. First is the one I grew up with where the egg is mixed into the carrot cake and the flavour is everywhere. Usually the carrot cake ends up beaten into little bits and you need to chase with a spoon. Using a pair of chopsticks for this kind takes real skill. Second is the type I term the new type although not so new. They fry the carrot cake then pour the egg and it ends up mainly like an omelette. The carrot cake and eggs are like 2 layers. Carrot cube seems to be more of the first. Egg is everywhere. And the nice part is no small bits to chase. Egg isn't crispy but that's normal for this type. Want crispy? Go look for the second type. I ordered the Hottie and the lady assured me it's super spicy and flavourful. I asked what's the difference if I just ordered number 1 and asked for chilli. Different she says. I think I heard her say the chilli is different or more? Not sure. But what I tasted didn't match what I thought I heard. So my taste review 1. The chilli has a slight shrimp flavour. Not spicy. I would need to add my own chilli paste to get a real kick. Their chilli didn't have a kick at all. She said if I liked spicy, I would get a real kick. 1 over 5 2. The eggs were well mixed but eating this made me think I had Covid. I couldn't really taste much flavour. Maybe this is the new style of healthier fried carrot cake endorsed by HPB for people to eat less salt. So 2/5 for flavour but 3/5 for healthier option. 3. The chilli made the overall presentation look fairly burnt. So i stead of enhancing flavour and look, I saw dark areas which look burnt. Not so good control of fire. She needs needs more practice at controlling the fire. 4. Talking about fire, no wok hei. Nuff said. 5. There was a very very slight taste of what could have been the bacon flavour from previous orders. That bacon fat flavour would have been shiok even if no bacon. What a favour boost that would have been if it was stronger. I want to support hawkers, I really do, having once been a Hawker and knowing the disappointment. So I hope the people helmi g this stall take this review with a pinch of salt and review the overall flavour and I'm sure you'll soon reach higher peaks. All the best!

Big Chucky piece of carrot cake, fried with the dark sweet sauce. Tasty, value for money and gosh the huge portion! Photo show the 4 dollar portion. Their pricing start at $3 for the black or white version.

Carrot Cake / Chye Tow Kueh (SGD $5) @ Carrot Cubes. . Starting as a pop-up stall at events, enterprising hawkerpreneur-chef Claire Huang has since grown her humble brand into a hawker stall and carrot cake distributor. . Her father, Ng Kwee Boon, has been making and supplying carrot cake for over 22 years, steaming them the traditional way using large aluminium trays. Claire also picked up frying skills from her uncle who sells his own chye tow kueh. . The carrot cake has distinct cubes, moist and soft and gently springy, with a good topping of preserved radish / chye poh. . The black has addictive sweet eggy savoury salty spicy flavour, while the white has fragrant smoky savoury salty eggy sweet spicy .flavour. . Their unique creations are a stand out. The Thai hottie features chili flakes for a sharp spicy kick with good fiery heat. And the Bacon has decadent chunks of pork bacon which complements with its meaty salty smoky flavour. . An excellent take which you can't get anywhere else.
