A hole in the wall eatery that asking for lower mid end pricing with not too large portion and some corner cutting. Was a new kid on the block at nex therefore giving it a try. After they pull you in and order, they pretty much leave me alone which is a blessing. Although no one bother to refill my tea, I'm glad I'm not the victim of pushy sales by the store northern PRC in charge. I pity the customer behind me, she has been pushing them higher end sets of sushi while they clearly came in for the promo . My minced tuna and seared swordfish belly came in a bowl 50% larger than the standard miso soup bowl. 25% are filled with cheap condiments ingredients like pickle ginger and dakon or wasabi . Seared swordfish was a disaster. Not fully seared but harden . Other than some saving grace of fish fat , no juice did I feel. Rice is special as they use a salty rice mix than the standard vinegared rice. The rest of the ingredients are rather forgettable. I would not said it's expensive but I would said I left filled but not satisfied .

12. Nov 2021 Tried their new Step up Sushi and Sashimi and really enjoy their effort for pairing Sushi by various taste. This can usually enjoy at Omakase shop that cost much higher. Value for money !! ? Service staff is superb too! Always never disappointed. Tried at their PLQ outlets several times and happen to find their new outlet at NEX. Mekajiki Sashimi is always fresh and juicy. Aburi salmon belly Ikura Don is my fixed choice. Thumbs up x 2 Canada air flown oyster is super fresh. Love their home make sauce!! Their Sushi rice with Furikake is flavourful and fantastic ?

fresh negitoro and salmon sashimi donburi. very nice aburi mentai sushi too. there was also an offer where you could get a free plate of truffle fries by sharing a photo of the food on facebook/instagram. would come again to try other rice bowls. yumyum

Food was good, portion was decent. Service was good as well, staff were very quick in taking our orders and getting our food ready. Also, you get free fries after posting a 5 star review so why not :p

I finally get to taste good donburi - fresh sashimi and oysters near my place! We tried out this new donburi outlet at Nex last night. The tuna/salmon donburi was delicious; seasoned rice covered with big slices of tuna and salmon sashimi, enough to share with my wife. Her swordfish donburi bowl was as delicious as well. The teriyaki tori was tender and well seasoned. The oysters were placed amidst dry ice vapour, and they were really fresh. Shop filled with posters of Japanese scenarios and usual Japanese restaurant designs. Most importantly, the waiters were all very friendly and approachable. Worth a revisit!

I'd have to say their service staff is pretty good, fast with order taking and refills your cup quite quickly. Otherwise everything else was very average. They do have a promotion where they give free fries for 5 star reviews...

We tried the salmon ikura hotate don, gindara mentaiko don, and the 7-type sashimi platter. The sashimi platter is beautifully presented with a smoking dry ice, sliced generously thick, overall freshness is alright except for the tuna belly which should have been the star item. As a donburi restaurant, the rice quality was a slight letdown, miso soup is lacking effort. On the other hand, the gindara on 50% promotion during our visit was really good with a crispy skin and succulent on the inside. Anyway, you get get a free serving of truffle oil fries if you share photos of your food and tag the restaurant on FB.

A decadent meal to kickstart the busy as can be week! A round of fresh and plump oysters from Canada to start, and Chirashidon to fill the belly. The food is good and lives up to the positive reviews on google (even though they have been shamelessly solicited - free fries if you post a pic online). The cuts were fresh. I enjoyed the little dollop of negitoro The only bugbear was perhaps the warm mixed rice. I would have preferred it served at room temperature - it tasted a lot better towards the end of the meal when the rice had cooled completely to room temperature and the grains has separated.
