1st to order! Aromatic with coconut milk if without the chili the soup is less tangy. Personally I like to mix in the chili. The soup may look light coz less chili oil floating around. But it is flavourful. The owner is super nice.!

Nestled in Hong Lim Hawker Centre, the Curry Chicken noodle capital of Singapore, is this Michelin recommended traditional trishaw Laksa. Laksa is an unique to Singapore dish and dates back to generations ago between the melting pot of Singapore's multicutural society. When I was a very young boy, I did had the chance to taste small bowls of laksa peddled in Sungei Road. This bowl of offering, although evolved, still brings back nostalgia. Menu for Laksa has $5 or $9. Go big or go home I always say. The big bowl came with a whole slipper lobster, 2 whole prawns, 2 drumlets, a handful of cockles, strips of fishcakes and taupok. The best noodle choice of thick bee hoon sold out so I had to make do with yellow noodle. Nostalgia aside, the prawn, slipper lobster and chicken drumlet were wondefully cooked. They were fresh, flavourful and bite texture were great. Though I don't know when did Laksa started to have prawns and now slipper lobsters, laksa never had drumlets. Though they were nicely marinated and tasted great. Perhaps to compete with the numerous curry chicken stalls here. Taupok, fishcakes and of course cockles were the original ingredient cast of Laksa, but pitifully little. Perhaps the star now are the prawns and lobsters. The star though, were the flavourful and lemak aromatic laksa broth. Savoury with wonderful umami, especially toss in a dollop of the rich chilli, the broth brought back a heavenly memory of sipping hot laksa at the Sungei road used goods market. If I come back again, perhaps I would ask for the same large bowl but I needed no prawns or lobsters, gimme plenty of cockles, taupok and the sorely missed quail eggs. Thats my true Sungei Road Laksa.

Recently had a return visit to have another bowl of the Fruit Juice Mee Siam with slipper lobster. Yummy as ever. โค๏ธ? โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€” Todayโ€™s lunch at Famous Sungei Road Trishaw Laksa in Hong Lim Food Centre. Their Singapore style โ€œtrishaw laksaโ€ is yummy but the secret gem here is what they call โ€œFruit Juice Mee Siamโ€. Absolutely satisfying. Not sure why they call it Mee Siam as they used blanched vermicelli for the dish and not the spicy fried vermicelli thatโ€™s known as mee siam. Regardless, itโ€™s a yummilicious concoction. Better than their famous laksa. The vermicelli is dunked into a light curry broth thatโ€™s been infused with fruit flavours. I believe they use calamansi and small starfruit for the juice. I may be wrong. The slipper lobster just uplifts a simple hawker dish to the next level. Have read that they only offer it when they can get the crustaceans fresh from the market in the morning. @whiskydev

I was at the market and food centre, and decided to snoop around at what was selling there. Chanced upon this place. I couldn't resist the fact that it's a Michelin Gourmand stall, so walked away with 2 packs of laksa. Ok. In all honesty, the laksa wasn't half-bad; I just felt that the gracy was a little fluid and thin, but having said this, it was lemak enak! Would I travel all this distance just to get laksa? Probably not, but if I'm in the neighbourhood, I might just give it a go again.

#02-66 Famous Sungei Road Trishaw Laksa ้ฆณๅ็ต้œœๆฉ‹ไธ‰่ผช่ปŠๅปๆฒ™ Famous Sungei Road Trishaw Laksa serves up various types of Laksa. The Asia Delight Laksa is the crowd favourite here and often sells out early. The broth takes hours to prepare and the dish includes crayfish, dried oysters, dried scallops, fish cake, cockles and prawns. The Hawker has been experimenting with ways to improve the humble local dishes. The Asia Delight Laksa here was one of the successful dishes with quality ingredients. A fragrant dish, although yummy, the broth was found to be a little too thin. General Verdict: A Hawker with a strive to provide excellent rendition of local delights. Unfortunately, the broth was found to be a little thin and did not have the coconut flavour to it Opening Hours: Daily 10:15am-3pm (Closed on Thursdays and Sundays) Queue Situation: About 5 to 10 mins Payment Mode: Cash, Local Internet Banking by QR code or AMEX (Singapore) Pay Is this worth a try? Yes. Is it worth making a trip just to try it? Maybe not. Is this worthy of the Michelin Bib Gourmand Singapore Award? Unlikely. Dish Ordered: 1) Item: Asia Delight Laksa Description: White round noodles served in curry broth with crayfish, succulent chicken, prawns, cockles and tow kwa. Wonderful ingredients let down by a thin broth Verdict: Acceptable, Order only if you want to try Price: SG$9

Came on a Tues lunch time, queue was fast moving. Was the 2nd last in queue and Uncle and Aunty were really friendly, chatted a bit and shared that their most popular dishes were the Mee Siam and Laksa, and that they had to brew the Laksa gravy with dried scallops & oysters for hours to reach the umaminess. Ordered the small Laksa bowl at $5.50; Laksa gravy was watery (not diluted but really rich and flavourful with lemak taste). Ingredients were really generous with 3 halve of prawns, 5 hums, fish cakes, chicken and taupok. Will be back to try their Mee siam!

The soup was well balanced, not too much coconut milk so you feel safe to drink all the soup. Cockles were fresh! Friendly stall owners made the whole experience a positive one. Sold out by 1.15pm on a weekday so better be there early!
