Amazing WokHei! Still one of the best dry version Char Kway Teow around. Consistency can vary between visits, but still tastes so good. Queue time can take awhile because each plate is fried individually. You can customise it either with extra egg, chilli or without beansprouts too!

I finally ate the Char Kway Teow (CKT) here and it is damn good. Unlike during the day where there was always a queue, there was surprisingly no queue at about 7.15pm. In fact I thought the stall had closed for the day as it looked dark. As I was waiting for my food from another stall, I saw there were a couple of customers at the stall and of course I then headed to the stall without hesitation. I ordered the $4 portion. It turned out to be quite a small portion, but because it is so well executed, it felt so satisfying after eating it as every bit is a real enjoyment. This has to be the best CKT I have eaten.

Nestled in an unassuming corner coffeeshop among the shop houses along Joo Chiat Place. The coffeeshop looks like it hasn't been makeover OR even clean up since day one. But if you are one that prioritize food over surrounding then this is one good plate of CKT that's worth ur calories. Just wish the portion could be bigger and having some lard added to it.

Good plate of CKT… the smokiness is there. Ordered $5, Wished the portions were bigger. I would say this is one of the better stalls around… enjoy….

Small, old school coffee shop that has just a few stalls. The most popular one is the Char Kway Teow stall. There's a queue during lunch hour so be prepared to wait. I like the wok hei infused fried noodles which were generously portioned with lup Cheong. The cockles were rather small though. It's nice but I won't go out of my way to specially eat it.

Come to this coffeeshop in joo chiat often for the prawn noodle in the morning and zhichar at night but never ordered their char kway teow before, decided to drop by for lunch since i was nearby. Noticed a queue upon reaching the coffeeeshop. Queue moved pretty fast, noticed the stall fry their char kway teow individually. A plate starts from SGD$ 4 onwards. The charkway teow comes with chinese sausage, slices fishcake and beansprout. The kway teow was nicely fried and has wok hei. It wasnt too sweet and just nice for me. Besides that, it does taste too oily to me either. Overall, a very decent plate of char kway teow i wouldnt mind eating.

Happened to be around the premises. Decided to go for the Char Kway Teow as the reviews were good. After 15 mins of wait finally had mine. While queuing, I have the habit of watching how each stall prepare they food. To be honest, I was abit turned off the way auntie does it. The proportion of yellow and noodles are definitely not even for every plate (I know oysters tough to get it right, but, the other stalls did it). There’s charred smell and after taste, it is not the “wok hey” i am looking for. Normal plate of Char Kway Teow to me. $4 for the serving is definitely way above average.

A very popular stall but I’m not sure if I’ll queue for it again. Came at 12 noon on a Saturday and it was a 20-min wait. If you have a faint heart with regards to hygiene, I would suggest you skip this. The stallholder uses her bare, right hand to throw the lup cheong and fishcake into the wok. (Abit of a shocker still esp in this pandemic). A friend loves this but I thought it was abit bland and not sweet enough. Not smokey enough either. Can eat but not fantastic. It’s really challenging finding a good plate of char kway teow. What I would give points for is that the auntie whips up each plate one at a time. Even though I ordered 2 plates with the exact requirements, she still fried each plate individually. Though I’m not sure if it is due to the apportionment of ingredients that she might be used to, or if it is due to her exacting standards to ensure consistent effort goes into each plate.
