I wonder, do Singaporeans really know how to taste delicious food? Old school flavor? I only taste MSG, the char siew thickness like paper and small portion. Maybe, it used to be delicious, but now, $5 for this standard of Wonton Noodles, better eat mixed rice. What's special? I really don't understand. (pic: something like charcoal or burning wood)

Having heard so much about Kok Kee wanton mee, I decided to give it a try, and of course I must try the main branch (correct me if I'm wrong). Taste: All I could taste was MSG, in the soup, in the noodle, in the char siew. Char siew is overly sweet, and too soft to have any texture. Portion: $5 for a small plate of wanton mee, with a dash of char siew and vegetables. 2 wanton. Needless to say, I was still hungry when I finished. X-factor: None. Cohesiveness: The only thing that ties all the ingredients together is MSG. And the excessive oil in the noodle. I have no idea why so many locals recommend this wanton mee.

While it’s no where as good as when it was in the old lavender food center, it’s still decent enough to pay a visit if you’re in the area and this type of wanton mee flavor appeals to you. A little on the pricey side as stated by most reviews here.

Very curious given that this stall has a perpetual queue. I chose to therefore go there outside meal times to try this noodle. It is pretty good. The wanton is tasty and there is definitely a special flavour. A four star rating means that I will definitely repeat. Only downside is the queue. It takes close to four minutes to prepare a dish. If you see five people, and provided they are not packeting for people, you are already waiting 20 mins. Need to be patient.

Reached 850am on a Sunday and 3 in the q before they opened 9am on the dot. Haven't ate here since lavender food court. Standard still the same old school Comfort. Springly thin noodles on lightly doused sauce add chewy taste to the noodles. Overall is still good just that the portion is small.

Compared to when I last had it, years ago when they were still at Lavender Food Square, to me it was an acceptable old school wanton Mee. Nothing amazing, just nostalgia, and if there's a queue I would go for something else. It's just a memorable taste we grew up with. Chewy noodles, lard fragrance, savoury thin slices of chewy char siew and flavourful tiny wantons. So I still don't get the $2.1million takeover. Today let's try it with the hefty price tag that bring this brand to a franchise status. Late lunch at 2pm, fairly popular given that I can see multiple tables having their offerings, there are still plenty of seats and I don't see a long queue. Got my basic plate of wanton Mee at $5 in a jiff. Looks pretty basic to me as when they were $3.50, just that the char siew looked glastly compared to what I remembered. Chilli sauce is now drenched over separately after the noodles are cooked and doesn't offer any fragance. When I stirred the noodles I do not smell any lard. Noodles limp. Sauce too watery and doesn't coat the noodles. Char Siew bland. Two tiny wantons, while the pork is fresh, can't say its anything to shout about. Soup is just basic wanton flavoured, a tat sugary sweet and doesn't offer much umami. Honestly this is no million dollar noodles. This is worse than a simple offering in a food court much less the old school wanton Mee my generation grew up with. A short walk away Chef Martin's version beat them hands down yet I don' t rate 88 Roast very high. Total fail of a over hyped Wanton Mee. Please, do yourself a favour, compare my latest pictures of their offerings to any food blogger's review pictures that are before 2019. Next if you want buy a plate here, then walk down to 88 Roast, try a plate, both stalls at the same price of $5. And I am not comparing yet to some of my favourites hawker wanton Mee in Chinatown or Tiong Bahru. There's probably a reason why this Noodle brand is not sprouting up branches all over the island and Jumbo is reporting millions in losses. Of course I am not coming back. Oh ya, my tongue stayed spiked with MSG until I washed it with 2 cups of milk tea an hour later. Urghhh

??? Used to be at the Lavender Food Court, which has already been demolished and rebuild. Now at this current place . Taste not as before before but honesty still once of the old great comfort food that I have tasted. The Noodle is chewy, the sauce just about the right taste combination of sweetness and saltiness and the wanton juicy. The soup dumplings are equally tasty . Price may be a bit expensive, but I think it's still okay. One of the old LadyBoss still there to maintain QC check. ?. Well done ???

Just ate there today and the taste was good and nice. Noodles were chewy and the mixture in sauces resulted in a nicely flavoured noodle. The fried wantons were alright but the wet wantons were pretty good. The soup is pretty rich. Overall I’m satisfied. Never been to the original store but heard so much about this brand that I decided to try it. When they first open at this outlet and the old aunties were still making it, I remember it to be a little tastier and oilier. But glad the taste is still alright.
