Char Kway Teow taste good, got wok hei and cockles fresh. Noodles texture just nice, not too dry and not too wet. Just that the serving a bit small for $4.

Itโ€™s my first time to the Havelock Food Center (22A Havelock Road). Being a CKT fan on an unofficial hunt for the best wok-hey CKT, I had to try this Meng Kee Fried Kway Teow ๆ˜Ž่ฎฐ็‚’็ฒฟๆก. The queue was quite long as it was lunch hour, though there were still many empty tables at the food centre. We ordered the small $4 plate. I asked for the cockles to be better cooked but I think the guy misheard me and thought I wanted it more raw. The ingredient is missing fishcake, so only cockles and lup cheong. No heavy wok hey and itโ€™s not sweet enough for my preference. But overall, would say itโ€™s not too bad, can eat when here but I wouldnโ€™t travel all the way here for it.

Char Kway Teow (SGD $4) @ Meng Kee Fried Kway Teow. . This 40-year old heritage stall is now in the hands of the 2nd generation, still serving their signature CKT that's messy, semi-greasy, and unashamedly decadent and delicious. . The generous large chunks of crunchy pork lard, chewy lup cheong / dried cured pork sausage, and plump blood cockles star here, no fish cake or green vegetables. . While the bean sprouts were a little soft, the lashings of dark sweet soy sauce give this a pronounced sweet savoury salty flavour. The noodles carry a decent amount of wok hei / breath of the wok, sufficiently tasty.

They may be lesser known fried kway teow but they certainly whipped up an amazing plate of CKT. It has the nice wok hey and generous with their ingredients too.

Price starts at $4 for a plate of char kway teow and itโ€™s honestly one of the best in SG! Snaking queue, but definitely worth it. You have the option to add egg / cockles / sausage. Fried pork lard included for extra oomph!

This stall only sells two items - a Singapore-style Fried Kway Teow Mee which captures the old-school taste beautifully, and Beansprout Cockles. I have only tried the former and it was so tasty, I ended up wolfing down more than Iโ€™d planned. The mix of firmer yellow mee and soft rice noodles with cockles, egg and slices of โ€œlap cheongโ€ is pretty basic looking but extremely flavourful as the young lady who fries it, uses pork lard oil, drizzles on just the right amount of sweet black sauce, and manages to infuse everything with a hint of smokiness while keeping the noodles a tad moist. Now I know why thereโ€™s always a queue ?

Very very affordable char kway teow at $3 a plate! Find it to be slightly sweeter than normal and prob can have more wok taste? But is not bad especially at this price. Adding chilli will help!

Although parking and finding seats will be a major issue during meal times. This stall is worth the trouble. Queues are also long for this stall, and I can understand why. Probably one of the better chaw kway teows here in Singapore. The wok hey, and the taste, together with the hum, makes the dish very well balanced. Feels shiok after you finish the plate of fried noodles.
