β β β β β there were such sweet servers! but overall food did not live up to my friendβs high recommendation.
was disappointed. tried several yakitori and dishes that were recommended on the menu to find maybe a dish that they really made well but sadly nothing. it was simply average. for $18, the 5pc salmon sashimi didnt really taste good nor the maguro sushi. literally 3 stars just for the servers. food-wise a thumbs down.

β β β β β Possibly the longest-running yakitori restaurant in Singapore, Nanbantei has managed to keep a level of consistent yumminess over the past decade or so that weβve been eating there. While there are now plenty of other options in town for skewers, at the price point and quality, this should be on any localβs to-try list.

β β β β β Back again after 2 weeks to try the set lunch. Satisfaction. With additional Sgd1/- i can have the red bean mochi dessert. Well actually very full but happy! Reasonable pricing!

β β β β β Revisited the restaurant after quite some time, food quality is still good . Other than some points which could be improved: chawamushi is far from typical dish served at other similar Japanese restaurant. It is too watery and almost tasteless, is not commensurate with the price.. This is very disappointing as compared to the yakitori which remains as good. Ochazuki is a bit diluted from what was served previously.as seen in the photo, some part of the yakitori is burnt quite badly which never happened before. as a whole, it is a good place and price for Yakitori. Will remain as one of my favourite for yakitori.

β β β β β Well had heard a lot about this restaurant, overall experience was good though I ended up having pork dish semi cooked with blood in the meat so visible. Later they replaced the same dish but this time was just so overcooked that it was so hard to chew. Finally had to ask them to waive off from our final bill. I appreciate they understood the issue and were kind and gracious to accept their folly. Service was great. Place is cozy and neat. Give a very typical feel of eating in a Japanese restaurant in Japan.

β β β β β This place has been around since I was a kid - first time I came here it was with my parents, and now I'm a working adult. But even though they stayed in this dingy shopping centre, the food is still good. Always ordered a bunch of sticks and enjoyed my meal. They use a lot of salt though so it's probably a good idea to not go too often!

β β β β β One of my favourite places to come to for a hole-in-a-wall experience, and when I need my Japanese yakitori fix. Definitely make bookings ahead if you are coming during peak evening time. Can be easier during lunch time and they do lunch sets if you're seeking more value for money options.
Service here is casual and brisk. Waitstaff are nice to you when you are nice to them, but they can be a little tactless when trying to make room for more seats for other guests, so don't expect too much.
People come here for the yakitoris which are well-seasoned and wonderfully seared! Usually, I go for the a-la carte menu rather than the set menus, especially if you are planning to share with friends. You get a lot more variety to choose from.

β β β β β Awesome Japanese Yakitori Bar in Far East Plaza.
Right next door to Grand Hyatt Hotel where I was staying so easy walk to the restaurant.
Had some excellent chicken, pork and Wagyu Beef Skewers. All perfectly seasoned.
I sat at the counter which is best place to sit to watch the chefs cook the Skewers over the hot charcoal coals.
Lovely staff providing great service.
They have Tiger beer on tap but I went with a Japanese Asahi beer in the bottle.
Excellent dining experience.
