NO.5 Bukit Timah Live Bull Frog Claypot Porridge - 5 Cheong Chin Nam Rd

My go-to place for frog porridge craving. Affordable and delicious especially if you can take kung pao. Side dishes are decent as well. Second level has air conditioning!

The ginger onion frog legs x 3 in claypot dish was excellent. Love the sauce which went well with the claypot porridge. Speaking of which, since it was just me and the kiddo, I ordered 2 porridge which turned out to be too much. We didn't know its portion was so big and the server didn't bother to check back with us. It's a simple eatery with no aircon on the ground floor. I think it was worth the try and would come back again.

the frog is not very delicious especially compared with that of Eminent Frog Porridge. the main reason is that the frog has not been cooked for long enough time and the ginger and spring onion is not sufficient. but the frog is still aceptable while the pig stomach soup is not recommended because of a strange pig smell and the strong pepper smell. the porridge is special with some millet beside the rice. it is tasty and healthy.

Frog porridge is good, frog is bouncy and tender. but the dried chilli flavour can be a bit too spicy and the congee has lots of ginger mixed in which i’m not a fan of. While this is good in the area, i will recommend the Geylang one over this if you are considering which to go.

Love the frog porridge from this place! 10/10 would come back here to satisfy cravings. The Kung Pao version is relatively spicy, so I personally prefer the ginger option.

Great frog leg porridge, we usually get the dry chili version. This time round was not as spicy or fragrant as usual but still good. The fried pig intestines is always a good idea as is the stir fry dragon chives or dou miao. Their baby garlic kailan can get greasy at times so we usually avoid it. Service is quick and hurried so be prepared to dig in as soon as the food arrives as they time it all to arrive at once. The only issue was the number of fans and temperature of the aircon on the second floor - you were continually blasted by either multiple fans or cold air and it both cooled down the food too quickly and chilled you to the bone. Definitely will think about grabbing a table in the far corners of the room or in the little protected alcove area.

Fair place to get your frog porridge in this neighbourhood. Dried chilli and seasonings are not spicy and fragrant enough. The sauce is a little too salty. But fresh and good frog meat!

Worst service ever. The food is decent in taste but the horrible service by the manager in black shirt make this place unbearable. Patronized the place at 1am on a Tuesday. The restaurant was empty and four of us were assigned to a small table. We ordered 1 bowl of porridge, 2 bowls of frog, 1 crispy chicken, 1 plate of tofu, 1 plate of omelette and 4 beverages. When the food came we realized the table is too small for us to eat comfortably and we requested to join an empty table. However the manager insisted we could just squeeze together to have our meal even though the restaurant was empty. And to make the matter worse he told us to leave if we are not happy with the arrangement. What kind of service is this? Is it even acceptable in the service industry? If the man in black is not the boss of the restaurant, I sincerely hope you will look into the matter and have serious talk with the employee involved. The manager doesn't possessed a professional attitude that is expected of a manager.
